My wife has an excellent piece of veal (Swiss origin) that was presented at the table raw so we could choose the size and piece to cut. Was perfectly cooked! I had the small Swiss river fish; "Egli filet" a la meuniere! Excellent service and wine suggestions! Can definitely reccommend it. NB we ate inside at a not very crowded... More

We have a quick lunch in this restaurant when our cruise ship arrived Stein am Rhein. The restaurant has both indoor or open sittings while in the latter case, you could have better views on the riverside. The food in general was acceptable with reasonable price but the staff were a bit slow in action as we have to hurry... More

Terrace is just off the lakefront promenade, but one can still see the Rhein. Excellent food, including a delicious asparagus salad and very fresh fish. Friendly service.

We wanted to have a quick lunch and since there were not many tourists sitting outside we took a seat. 5 min waiting to get the menu, we ordered beer and it came on time. Than waited 15min to get somebody to order main course. After the raising question: Can we order? We got the answer YES but waited another... More

This restaurant has reopened and been very tastefully redecorated throughout. We sat outside and had a nice lunch which was not too expensive for Switzerland. The downside was the waitress did not bring any bread for our meal, I had to ask for it. I asked for water for the dog but that never appeared.

We went to look for this restaurant during our stay but it was closed and for sale. It was in a lovely position near the lake.

The BADSTUBE Restaurant Cafe Winehouse is a medieval house that dates back to 1434, when it was the first bathouse mentioned in the kanton of schaffhausen - it is in the tradition of these bathouses that the decoration of the main restaurant is made - on first floor the Dampferstube is decorated with original artefacts of the steamboat Schaffhausen, that was used to transport tourists from 1903 until 1965 on the upper rhineriver. The "No E Wili - Stube" is decorated with a woodcarving that shows a part of the "No E Wili - Saga" as well as "St. Georg" Stein am Rhein's emblem-figur. On the west side of the medieval house is a terrasse that overlooks the rhine river and gives incredible sunset panoramas - on the south side of the house the little and romantic "Hexehofli" is a sourronded court that has it's very own ancient touch.

The Cusine of the BADSTUBE is fresh, traditional, swiss sweetwaterfish, Swiss Gourmet Beef Grand Cru Meet as well as regional and seasonal fresh variety of vegetables and specalities including Onion Tart and Chuttle Schaffhausen Style - try the "Zvieri" - the afternoonplatters with speck, nutsalami and airdried ham can be a real treat.

Over 100 regional an some international wine specalities, as well as regional quality draft beer make your stay a memorable one.
