We stayed here for 2 nights in the family room for four of us. The price was 300 which isn’t cheap for 3.5 star place but we chose it for the location to some friends we were seeing and the reviews. The room was really...spacious with separate single room, large bathroom, superking bed with sofa bed. The bathroom had a shower and bathtub - a little clinical and could have had more products - but clean. We appreciated the breakfasts in the morning which was made to order (eggs Benedict, smashed avocado etc.). The coffee wasn’t great but otherwise really no complaints. Service was fair. Location is in the “centre” of Winscombe - opposite a Coop and fish & chips shop which was handy. We would recommend this stay to others.More

Went on Friday late afternoon, restaurant was quiet and there were 4 staff. We got our mains in good time and the food was lovely, we then waited for 40 minutes with empty glasses and dirty plates. Staff were stood around the bar, including the...manager. We then got asked if we wanted desserts and still no offer of a drink. No one came back again for 20 minutes so we gave up on pudding went to the bar to pay. Poor table service but good foodMore

We were a table of 8 and received excellent service from the friendly staff. Most of the meals, risotto, vegetarian, salads egg and chips were good. However, the signature ´Woody Burger ‘ both meat patty and roll were not. The rolls were stale and the...burgers tough and seemingly reheated. This was a shame as it is a good, reliable local pub and place to eat.More

Stopped for lunch at this pub. Had an enormous ploughman's lunch. Large portion of Cheddar & Draycott Blue, fresh bread, celery & a whole array of pickles all very well presented & very tasty.

We have visited the Woodborough 4 times in the last couple of months, twice for breakfast, once for a lunchtime snack and again for a main meal. On every occassion we have come away more than happy. A good atmosphere, helpful friendly staff and lovely food...at resonable prices. To top it all the bar and restaurant areas are smart, fresh and clean. This is a place for you to visit.More

Three of us went for supper. Really lovely food, portion size just right and food piping hot and tasty. Two of us had the scampi (which is always superb) and the other had a pasta dish from the 'specials board', which was also enjoyed. Would...recommend.More

Have been here quite a few times for Sunday lunch and it's always very nice. Good portions with great service and very reasonable too. Pub itself is nicely done out with a good atmosphere, plenty of space, and very nice, polite staff. Would definitely recommend.

Went to the pub for a meal for a 48th birthday for 9 people. Ended up cramped around a table in the bar area as one of of the party had a small dog which was not allowed in the restaurant area. Ok, get it....Not all pubs allow animals and they should have checked first. Ordered squid as a starter which consisted of 5 or 6 pieces or battered squid for £8.75. A pint of coke £4.30! Really?? £17.25 for a burger?? Ordered 2 veggie roast dinners but they only had veg for 1 meal. How did that happen?? So 2 of the group said they would split 1 meal between them. 1 roast chicken ordered but no veg arrived so had to go and ask. The food started to arrive sporadically but no cutlery. Had to ask. Veg arrived some broccoli, a few carrots and red cabbage. The bill was incorrect. 2 veg roasts charged but only 1 served. Really disappointed by the whole experience.More

Stayed here before and loved it, but after a recent refurbishment it now exceeds expectations with spacious rooms, a really comfortable bed and great bathroom. All really spotless. Then we get the breakfast.....superb. Something on the menu for all tastes and all made fresh. Good...coffee followed by a great hearty breakfast. Cannot fault this establishment. If I had to give it a vote they would get 10 out of 10.More

We had an incredible meal here. The starters of smoked duck with pesto and trout gravlax were so delicious, we then had proper butchers faggots with mash and a steak cooked to perfection. Highly recommend and we will be returning!

Absolutely delicious Sunday roast. I had chicken, husband had the pork. Meat perfectly cooked, crispy roast potatoes, well cooked veg, massive Yorkshire pudding, proper homemade gravy and lovely, cheesy cauliflower cheese. Staff all welcoming and friendly. Completely exceeded expectations. Absolute gem of a place, we...will be back.More

We wanted somewhere for our family of 15 to have a pre-Christmas meal together with good access from London, Shrewsbury and Devon. We had not been to this venue before but the website and pre- booking communications were promising. From setting the date to paying...the final bill everything was stress free! We were given a table in the restaurant which was quieter than the main bar area and everything was very ordered and clean. The ability to preorder from the lunch and main meal menus was perfect for a big family group and fifteen meals were all brought out at the same time, well cooked and delicious. No one was disappointed with their choices from the wide range of hot and cold meals. There was a good choice of drinks, with reasonably priced bottles of wine and draught beers. The mulled wine and cider are also highly recommended! All the staff without exception were friendly and extremely helpful without being intrusive and we were very well looked after throughout the meal. The skittle alley within the pub, which we were able to book at no extra charge, proved great fun for all ages and enabled us to stay at the venue longer, ordering drinks, teas and coffees from the bar without staying seated at the table. It was a very relaxing sociable afternoon. Parking was easy and plentiful despite it being a busy day. We would definitely return for a similar occasion in the future.More

Called in on the off chance today for Sunday lunch. Lovely smiley faces welcomed us. After ordering our drinks, smooth Shiraz and a belvoir ginger, we were shown to a table for two. We were given plenty of time to read the Specials Board and...check the menu. Our young waitress who has only been here a few months, looked after us very well (good training) and both our meals were very tasty……vegetarian nut roast and gammon, pineapple, egg and chips…my husband said they were the best chips he’s eaten for a long time….stayed really hot until end of his meal. My quinoa, squash nut roast was truly delicious. Well done chef. Good choice of puddings and a steaming mug of ground coffee. No supper for us tonight! Although busy it was not noisy and there is plenty of space between tables. A good mix of diners from grandparents to youngsters …. great ambience.More
