Tucked away downstairs at the Curtin shops is this lovely gem of a restaurant. The very reasonably priced, good range of vegetarian and meat dishes are comprehensively described in the menu and we had no trouble choosing our own combination to share as an evening...More

Went there with a group and got the banquet. Service was slow, waited long time for entree and also then the main. Virtually no service, no one came to top up our water or ask if we wanted more drinks or even coffee/tea or desserts....More

We always go to The Hungry Buddha with Grandma. Usually the service is very average but the food is amazing so we keep going. We went this last Saturday and it was worse than ever. The food, again, delicious, nevertheless, we had this waitress that...More

This was the second time we had visited and we were not disappointed. Service was efficient and prices decent. The food was full of flavour. I had the vegetarian dhal bhat and it was so good - didn't want it to end. Looking forward to...More

This find was a surprise to me, a splendid restaurant hidden away in a Canberra shopping centre, but it was a sure fire hit with our grandchildren. I understand they have been back there a couple of times since with their parents! The mountain eggplant...More

We have dined here so often now, it's like a part of the family. Love the food. And the staff are warm, friendly and always happy to do more for you. The food is authentic and very tasty - always. Just love this place.

We started with two of the interesting entrees. The MoMo or chicken dumplings with special tomato sauce were delicious and the spicy corn was also good. I chose the lamb curry and my partner chose the eggplant dish. Both were nicely spiced and very tasty....More

Having never tried Nepalese food. I recently dined here with a work colleague of Nepalese background. Both he and I enjoyed the Mo Mo and Dahl. The food is great introduction to Nepalese food with the Dahl a key to try. My colleague thought the...More

Having enjoyed takeaway from here several years ago, we were interested to try dining in. I was surprised by how busy it was for a venue tucked away underneath a suburban shopping centre; it seemed that it may be a favourite secret for quite a...More

Description
The Hungry Buddha began its life in mid-2011 with two simple goals mind, too cook authentic Nepalese food, and serve our customers with a genuine and friendly hospitality. Two friends, Lachhu Thapa and Benjamin Richardson, have come together to turn this concept into a reality. Priding themselves on staying true to their original goals of traditional food and great service.Located in the centralised suburb of Curtin in south Canberra, The Hungry Buddha is tucked away down-stairs in the ever surprising Curtin shops. Hard to find...but once you do prepare to be greeted by the delicate spiced aroma of a traditional Nepalese kitchen, and the native Nepali influenced stylings of this atypical space. Just 10 minutes from Civic, much closer then Nepal.
