Beautifull view, nice people, silence and rabbits and cats. The owner and his son are very nice people. They have kind words to everyone who jump in for a second. It worth to come up to this place. Even the road up to this place...is so uniq. It was a great idea to visit this nice place and people.More
What an amazing place. Despite the fact that it’s big and can cater for huge masses of people, it still maintains its traditional and honest feel. The views are amazing. The waiters fantastic. The food very good. As plus is the playground for kids and...the little bunnies freely roaming around. It had amazing relaxing feel, almost like coming home. Would definitely recommend and will come back as soon as we can. By the way .... we drove all the way up to the alm. Towards the end the road is slightly off road but our little Renault has made it and we didn’t see any signs that would prohibit this. Made it easier for us with our small daughter. The Kaiserschmarren was amazing!More
Great pleace to make a stop, drink some wine or beer. Children was so happy with bunnies and cats 🐈🐈🐈
We have visited the Sonnenalm several times in the winter and the summer and have always had an amazing time! Gerhardt and his family do an amazing job of entertaining, serving and providing the most amazing time in Austria! The food is so good (loved...the family style serving...the ribs, baked potaoes, kaiserschmarn...everything!!!) The homemade schnapps was a wonderful ending to a fabulous day. We spent the evening by the bonfire playing a wooden connect four game with our family. The five of us spent the night in the perfectly appointed house right on the property. It was such an amazing experience spending the night on the mountaintop under the moonlight. Spend the day (or night) at this wonderful place if you get a chance! You will not be disappointed!!More
This is by far the best place we visited during our trip do Schladming Dachstein area. The food is very authentic and delicious. The setting is unique especially on a clear sunny day. Simply a perfect place to relax and enjoy your meal. It is...located in a quite isolated area, but can be reached by car or on foot from nearby villages. It is well worth the visit.More
My husband and I celebrated our 60th birthday at this quaint restaurant on the mountain. We planned the occasion from our home in South Africa and the evening exceeded our expectations. From the time we were fetched and transported to Sonnenalm we were welcomed as...if we were family. Service, incredible food, fun and laughter together with their hospitality made for an evening we will never forget. Each morsel of food was so evidently lovingly prepared and presented. Homemade schnapps, handcrafted puzzle type games, chatting to the family and traditional music added to the magic of the evening. From the bottom of our hearts thank you for everything. We will dream of the day we can return.More
Visited with a group of friends for the evening. Collected and dropped off up a most interesting driveway...... Entertained for the evening. Locally sourced food and home made schnapps.
An absolutely gorgeous building in the most stunning location - we were lucky to get such a beautifully clear day, not a cloud in the sky! The staff were fantastic - incredibly friendly and made you feel instantly comfortable. He came and chatted to us...in excellent english (with my shameful lack of skill in german!) and told us lots about the local area and even brought over puzzles and games. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, with some fantastic local dishes served. Highly recommend! NB - If you are intending to drive, the dirt track up is not for the faint hearted and is quite hard to find (don't rely on google maps - it takes you the wrong way coming from Schladming. Head to Mandling and ascend from there.). Any small cars will probably struggle. However I've read reviews of them coming to pick people up half way down the mountain, which is easy to believe considering how helpful they were! This would be a fantastic place to stop mid-walk, which we intend to do before we leave. Don't miss out if you are in the area!More
I read the reviews on TripAdvisor and told my family we had to visit here for lunch. The friends we were hiking with are from Germany and had decided the same thing on their own. We were nit disappointed. Reviews are spot on. Great location,...friendly people and good, reasonably priced food. We hiked down from Rittenberg from the top to bottom with this as our lunchbreak.More
