Man, I've loved his place both times I've been here, years apart. Lovely location in the haunting Swahili ruins, nice beach, and exactly the kind of host you hope for: intersting, friendly unpretentious. Just wonderful. Blow your budget (because you won't be ripped off and you'll get value for every luxurious shilling you spend) and take what they have that... More

My sister, niece and I spent the day at Monsoons when we were stranded in Mombasa waiting for my husband (who was dealing with security issues at our rural health centre) to take us to Malindi for a luxury few nights break (July 2011). I was living and working in rural Kisiiland at the time. My husband looked at trip... More

Gone to this restaurant on a Sunday and was amazing, the food excellent, you can really taste the freshness of the seafood and we saw several fishermen bringing their catch while we were there. The restaurant was full but the kitchen and the service worked very well, we were also offered a complementary limoncello after a fantastic tiramisu. The place... More

The restaurant was recommended by a good friend and everything was up to expectations, the food the ambiance, the service and the setting, was the best way to start our Christmas holidays at the Coast. The seafood, jumbo prawns, was delicious and also the fillet steak with balsamic vinegar that my girlfriend ordered since she is not a seafood lover... More

The title says it all. Monsoon is the best seafood restaurant on the coast. The idyllic setting, the fantastic owner "aziza and Attilo", the great atmosphere and the fantastic food make this place 100% perfect. We had the seafood platter and it was perfection. Walking through the Jumba Ruins is also mystic and so entertaining. I can't fault the restaurant... More

Where do I even begin. This place is beautiful and naturally they should expect a flow of people to come in. I have gone to this place three times and I have come to a solid conclusion that they are obviously racist. Let me explain the three scenarios: The first time I went with a group of white people, we... More

Well, this jewel is worth the treasure hunt but don't worry, most taxi's will get you there. On arrival you pass this through the Juba ruins to the beach and wow, what a views as you enter the restaurant! The seafood is fresh out of the sea. The owners are hands on, one cooks and the other serves and entertains.... More

Situated on the fringes of the Jumba Ruins National monument in Mtwapa lies this small but delightful restaurant run by Attilio and Aziza. Since we moved to the north coast in 2010 we visit Monsoons weekly because there is no better seafood on the coast and it is a fabulous place for the family with a nice, deserted beach and... More

The Jumba Ruins restaurant is on a unique, peaceful location. No prostitutes around, neither beachboys. The entire environment is beautiful and the perfect background for a tasty lunch i enjoyed with 3 of my friends. Will be soon going back there.
