We were looking for somewhere to eat with our friends that would allow the dog. The Derwentwater Arms turned out to be perfect. Good beer, food cooked to our liking, excellent service, and a genuine welcome for the dog. In fact they even had some dog biscuits on the bar. We will be back.

We had been on quite a long walk and really needed some good food and a well deserved drink, and somewhere dog friendly. I'm so glad we came across the Derwentwater Arms. The location is fantastic if you are walking Curbar and Froggatt Edge as we were. With outside seating and a traditional interior, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere... More

Wen with husband for lunch. Warm welcome. Happy to find good choice on lite bite menu and at bargain prices. Husband had fish and chips and I had fish pie from specials board. All food cooked to order. Highly recommend and will return.

Good Afternoon - thank you for your recent review. We try and serve good honest homemade food at affordable prices. We use a fantastic fresh fish monger - which shows in the quality of our food. We arrived at the Derwentwater arms at about 8pm and it was heaving- the bar was full and so was the rest of the eating areas. Luckily we found a spot in the bar, which was great for our dog Maggie too!. I ordered the burger and my partner the fish and chips. I was impressed with the burger, not... More

Turned up 'on spec' for lunch with a friend before a lovely walk in the peaks. We were warmly welcomed by the landlord and landlady before tucking into a beautifully home cooked, delicious 3 course meal. The decision on what to eat and drink was a tricky one as we were spoilt for choice but Tom's suggestions were spot on!... More

Stopped here early one evening after quite a long walk. Genuinely friendly staff and very much a locals pub that does food and take outs. Food was very good and tasty, all hot and no problems, the chilli & cheese fries {I think} which I had to try as a side with my meal were great - never had them... More

Good Afternoon - Thank you for your recent review of the Derwentwater Arms, Calver. We appreciate all feedback. I am glad that you enjoyed our food and beer and that your service was friendly. Th hand dryer in the Gents is an ongoing joke with the locals -we replaced it once and it wasn't powerful enough - so we had... More

Read recent positive reviews so went with high hopes of a nice evening, how wrong we were. Long wait for the meal, several tables asking when they might eat. Orders wrong, asked for sauces that never arrived, ordered a side, told it was included, then told it wasn't and it arrived after we had eaten, way too much pepper and... More

Good Morning, Thank you for your recent review of the Derwentwater Arms, Calver. I cannot apologies enough for your experience last night. We had several members of staff who called in sick at the last minute and with no bookings in the diary expected the evening to be quiet - something that was proved wrong and we are now re-recruiting... popped in here after a day walking with out dogs and friends, nice selection of food although when warm I feel a selection of sandwiches would be beneficial. staff were friendly and surroundings were pleasant for a relaxing drink and snack, the beer was good for a small local pub. plenty of car parking outside the pub. would visit again

Called in here just after 3 pm on a sunday afternoon. From the outside the place looked a little dubious as the metal railings were quite dated and in need of painting, however I am glad we did venture inside. Staff were quite welcoming as testified by other contributors on here and we were offered a table straight away. The... More
