Wonderful people & hotel steeped in history. Even had a picture of a South African pound. Winston Churchill & Eizenhower had stayed there too.

Evening meal with friends while here for weekend. Very busy in bar when arrived but shown to table upstairs. Nice dinning room, friendly staff and very good food.

Warm & friendly atmosphere at the George - our first visit but definitely not our last. Lovely cosy bar area and comfy seating by the fire. Efficient service and great food.

I previously gave a average reviews a couple of years ago. But I was really impressed with the food. And the service was amazing. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Good price for brilliant quality. I will be visiting again.

The George is a 16th Century house, with an open style theater kitchen, three dining rooms and a lovely bar with open fires, we also have a large garden to enjoy on the warmer days. We are open Monday to Sunday serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, we also serve a glorious selection of roasts on Sundays. We have a large dining room upstairs The Map room, seating 36, a private dining room The Brunswick which seats 16 and the Vault downstairs for 20 and The Pantry by the kitchen seats 22
