Ate here for the second time this afternoon, and had a wonderful, properly home cooked lasagne. Beautifully served, with a huge salad and proper garlic bread. It was so substantial I couldn't finish it, and apologised to the chef for not doing it justice, when it was so lovely. Will absolutely eat here again Extensive menu to choose from

I put my hand on my heart and say the Lasagne we make and serve on the premises at the Peacock is as good as it can be and you can eat AJJP1. Thanks for saying it, and we don't take offence if you couldn't eat it in it's entirety, we understand and will see you next time you eat... More

Ate here on a Sunday evening after a long day walking. We both had pies, chicken for me, and beef and ale for my partner, comes with beautiful chunky homemade chips and peas, and gravy. Comfort food well needed after a long walk. All the food that was being served looked lovely. Definitely come here for good quality food, and... More

During our weekend away camping in Ashbourne we took a trip to Bakewell for Lunch on Sunday. The Peacock had a really buzzing atmosphere (the wasps did add to this, however they weren't that bad.) So as expected there was about a 40 min delay on food, it was Sunday after all. We were in no rush and very happy... More

What a lovely review Vintagevix88, and not because you say glowing things about the food we served, but because you UNDERSTAND!!! You understand that when a place, and in our case the Peacock, with the sun shining, people chatting away, and in general embracing the good things in life such as an afternoon with family and friends as you put... A Big thank you to Graham H and his German entourage who had a smashing time for 5 nights in Bakewell and I believe covered many sights and sounds of the beautiful countryside that surrounds the lovely town of Bakewell. Fed and watered to exemplary standard (we hope) at our little abode - we thank you humbly as you knocked... More

We last ate here about 2 years ago and I gave the place 4 stars for a great lunch. Not sure if the place has got better, or, more likely, I simply should have given 5 stars last time too. We had the chicken and pork terrine starter (gorgeous), followed by Sunday roasts - a lamb; beef; and Turkey. Each... More

Winksie - you came back, you said you would, and you known it makes sense to pay just that little bit extra to get that a lot extra, and we at the Peacock feel we give full value for that extra pound or two. Glad you enjoyed your meal as much as the last time - two years, how time... More

I am so glad I discovered this little gem in the heart of Bakewell! From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. We spent the day walking around the peak district, arrived back tired and hungry, but the restaurant was very busy as it is obviously a popular place. No problem, they delivered our food to our room... More

We visited the peacock on a recommendation & were really glad we did. The menu may not sound unique but the style in which it is served elevates to gastropub level & the portions are sizeable enough to make it great value for money. Nice pub food with a lovely beer garden! Inside is warm and comfortable. The peacock burger is a must and the homemade chips really make the meal! Worth stopping in for a bite sometime. Not cheap but worth the few extra pounds.

Thanks Adam L, as what more can you ask for than nice pub food, with the added incentive of a lovely beer garden in summer. We visit every year in September and we are never disappointed. Excellent food and although a little expensive you get value for money...enormous portions but still manage to clear the plates! Staff great and kids seem to think its brilliant when the owner recognises them!! Looking forward to another meal next year!
