When in Bakewell... We found this place by chance. Naturally I went for an iced Bakewell slice. It was the best I've ever tasted. Unfortunately I also tasted something else. Our food was garnished with strawberries and it looked nice. To my surprise someone had...cut said strawberries on a board or with a knife they had just used to cut onion. It was an interesting experience. I raised it with them and their response was poor. Oh I'll let them know in the kitchen. Not really what you expect. I know it's all fruit and veg but honestly. Hence the low rating. My confidence in them is limited and I would be inclined to get food standards to go and give them training.More

Excellent breakfast, the best in Bakewell, great bacon & sausages, and really well presented, even the beans were in a separate pot which is very important! Lovely staff & service too.

My mother is lactose intolerant. We were served by a Denise who was already looking annoyed at having customers in general despite it being only 11am. When my mother attempted to express her dietary needs politely to the waitress, she ripped off her glasses and...huffed and puffed. My mum had to repeat herself, now looking quite embarrassed and upset. Denise retorted “so what do you want then!?” After my mum had simply asked for no milk and no beans on her breakfast. Denise told us that the chef is “ars*y” and “wouldn’t want to do that”. My mum expressed that she felt embarrassed and unwelcome TO Denise who didn’t seem to care. My mum simply said she would have tea and Denise sighed and walked away. This wasn’t our first visit. We are locals but we will NEVER EVER be crossing the threshold again. We have never been disrespected in such a manner. Cafes should be more than equipped to handle dietary needs, all my mum asked for was no milk but we were made to feel awful.More

A delightful experience that we will no doubt repeat when next in Bakewell, my husband and I ordered a slice of Bakewell tart and a vanilla slice to accompany our pot of tea. We shared the cakes, as neither of us could choose which one...we wanted, and both were delicious. The service was friendly and the toilets were clean and well-maintained. What more can I say … highly recommended!More

Popped in for a present to take home. Shop full of lovely cakes and pies. Bought 3 traditional Bakewell tarts which the lady wrapped up in a paper carry bag. Highly recommend a visit.

I set off to Bakewell with my two elderly frail parents to search for a cute place for cake and tea since the lockdown was lifted. We stumbled upon the outdoor dining, were catered for immediately by a friendly waiter and when my father complained...of being cold despite the warm June afternoon we were instantly brought inside to our meal set waiting for us indoors. Really tasty pasties and pies, additional side dishes and drinks brought instantaneously and an extremely attentive lady named Fay handled my incredibly difficult father who has Alzheimer’s dementia and is deaf, left us laughing and finishing every bite, to quote my mother ‘the best pie I ever had’. Overall made our trip to Bakewell amazing, so pleasant and will certainly be returning with more family members when rules allow. Also the cakes we brought as take away went down a treat when back home. 10/10 Would attach photos of the cakes but we ate them too fast!More
