They had 2 resident dogs in situ well behaved. We enjoyed a drink noted food times and left. Back this lunchtime. 2 male staff and again a warm welcome.we asked... More

Lovely pub, really friendly staff. Food could just be that little bit better! Went for Sunday lunch and received fried roast potatoes!!! Come on folks, peel some spuds and roast your own! Yorkshire pudding pre-made out of a packet! Come on folks Not hard to make a Yorkshire pud even in the Peak District!!! This could be a real opportunity... More

Nice pub, friendly staff and good beer (Black Sheep and Doom Bar), near walks etc. Food we had not so good; pie was overcooked, fish was watery, chips underdone and batter not cooked. Did I say the beer was good?

Having had many a bad time trying to find somewhere to eat in South Derbyshire at the weekend, so I was very pleased to find the Rising Sun really accommodating to our large party. The food was good quality, the service was fabulous and the redecoration is really nicely done. Highly recommended and I'll definitely return next time I'm in... More

I went there for a meal on a Friday early evening. The place had been refurbished since I was last there and it was lovely - it still looked like the traditional country pub, though smarter. The food and service was excellent and good value for money. Will gladly recommend it to others. I

Called in on the way home after a day at Carsington Waters. Looked okay from outside. dark and grubby inside. We ordered food and told we could only pay by cash, so we had to rummage round for the money. Had our food in the beer garden on a dilapidated table. The food looked presentable, however, the steak was like boot leather... More

Great food for a hungry party of 9, made to feel very welcome including our pup who also got a treat. Would recommend booking if you do have a dog as the pup is split in half and only tables in the bar area can accommodate dogs. The food was fast but homecooked with very generous portions. We popped in... More

This is a good looking pub with a good space for a beer garden and a decent menu. It gets grubbier and grubbier though. I don't like toilets with dirty edges on the floor. Neither do I want to sit outside amongst cigarette ends, crisp packets and other people's mess. Give it a good clean. It will make such a... More
