We recently stayed in Tideswell on our fourth visit with my sister and brother-in-law and once again enjoyed excellent food at the Red Lion. Jeanie is just a wonderful landlord and goes out of her way to make you visit comfortable and enjoyable. The food is wonderful and I can definitely recommend the homemade steak and ale pie. There is... More

Called in for lunch on the recommendation of someone we met in a restaurant in Lanzarote! Definitely lived up to expectations. Beer and food were great. Prices were about the same as other local pubs. Unfortunately we only had time for a sandwich, but I would love to return for a meal. Walker and fog friendly, but children under 6... More

We were recommended to visit this pub whilst we were on holiday in Litton Mill and so the family of 3 generations and 3 dogs called in on our way home from a visit to Bakewell. The pub itself is quite small and very popular and although we did not get to eat there the menu looked lovely and the... More

The best public house in the Peak District! The food and service are both excellent! The staff are really friendly and there is always a warm welcome from Jeanne the landlady and her dog Humphrey! Muddy boots and paws are welcome too! An ideal place to go following a long walk in the Peak! We've been many times and will... More

Don't get me wrong, this is still my fav pub, but it has been pointed out to me that I gave a local pub 3/5 for similar service so I have to be fair and honest. Visited last month on my birthday after a nice walk. We were offered a lovely table. The owners dog was wandering around which is... More

Booked the night before by email - they prefer phone booking but it all worked out ok in the end. Friendly, efficient staff and tasty food- including a good selection of vegetarian dishes. An unknown problem in the kitchen meant we didn't have dessert because we were on a time limit - maybe next time. No children under 6 allowed... More

Our family had a nice meal here on a busy Friday evening. The food was good and there was a nice atmosphere. The pie was particularly standout.

This is in a quiet village, popular with walkers. The village is on a bus route which facilitates a range of walks and parking is generally possible. We just called in for a drink at lunchtime, prior to a walk. This is an expensive pub. The drinks were the priciest we had in our stay up here. A 200ml bottle... More

This used to be a great pub, but in the last year its standards have declined. The physical building is still quaint and the atmosphere cosy. The beer is great and the location excellent for a walk. However the service has gone down. Its popular and we had to wait an hour for our meal (on a Thursday night) despite... More

Booked a table for a Friday night 50th birthday celebration. Nice table in good spot provided. Ordered the pie which I'd had here before. Had to wait over half an hour for food to arrive despite it being very quiet which felt a bit protracted. Half way through eating pie had to remove an inch wide and 3 inch long... More
