The Old Schoolhouse provides homey charm with fresh baked scones, pastries and tarts, [pies], in an historic setting in one of the most beautiful settings in Ireland. Overlooking the River Nore, hostess Teresa serves her guests with quiet, personal service.

I was passing through the scenic countryside of Inistioge on my motorbike to take some photographs of the bridge and I found this place right on the riverside. Great place to have a coffee or a snack. I had a gormet sandwich with black pudding and bacon and it was delicious.

This is not a place to go if you want tl have an acfual meal. Food is not bad but it is sparse. They need to cop on that we have moved on from the starving sixties. Stinginess doesnt cut it nowadays. Wouĺdnt go back. We were all hungry afterwards. .

Me and my friend both ordered the prawn and avacado salad. We requested no dressings or sauce as we were on our new paleo diet so the lovely waitress asked if we would like extra salad to which we both enthusiastically accepted!! We then received two or three leaves of iceberg lettuce with tiny prawns sprinkled ontop. Oh and 1... More

Having been here a long time ago, we decided to revisit, on a beautiful day, to see if things were still as good. Whilst the waitresses were lovely and the setting was amazing the food was disappointing. We all had a baked potato and they were tiny, the fillings of beans and also tuna and sweetcorn were less than generous.... More

Stopped in this beautiful village on way to Hook Head while on motorbike. We parked by the river outside The Old Schoolhouse restaurant for lunch. Lovely comfortable surroundings with friendly staff,we both went for the vegetable soup with homemade brown bread and the chicken chutney salad wrap which was excellent and very filling we finished off with coffee great value...
