Garden lounge has really beautiful setting and perfect place for lazy Sunday lunch. Oak trees provided perfect shade during a hot summer Sunday. Our lunch had an entertaining twist with added guest - huge turtle that come to drink water from the water feature in front of our table. Menu was limited but food was very nice. We had chicken... Limited but excellent food menu, and a good selection of wine and beers. Friendly and helpful service. This time it was warm enough to sit outside in the evening, a real bonus.

Go to the Vineyard on a good day and sit outside under the oaks for a good lunch and wonderful ambiance, there's even parking underground. In the middle of Claremont is this lush oasis with huge tortoises wandering around the gardens, our overseas friends just love it. After lunch there is a delightful walkway alongside the river. Great to get... More

On a beautiful day there's few places with a view and atmosphere like this. The service is also attentive. But the food falls so far short of what you'd expect. It's a seriously below par menu and the food quality is really not good enough. Had pasta with a bolognese sauce where someone thought it wise to overdose with sugar... More

In the past I had nothing but positive experiences at the Vineyard. The view and surroundings obviously remains the same but the food and service was very disappointing this time round. Clearly management has taken the decision to reduce portions substantially, to essentially "tasting menu" proportions. Off our group two ordered line fish (swordfish) wish was ok without being spectacular,... More

Table for 1. Busy spot with restless staff and little by way of personal niceties. Good high tea nonetheless. Well presented and each element tasty. Better than Mount Nelson and less stiff. Would return

Good restaurant serving a range of great food, with beautiful views of Table Mountain. Friendly and helpful staff, but can be very busy at lunch and tea times, because it is in such a fantastic setting.

I have been going to The Vineyard for 25 years & have always loved the splendor of sitting on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden & the backdrop of mountains. Of course, the wander through the gardens & along the river is always a must after lunch! Sadly, this time we were all very disappointed with our lunch. We all... More

the ambience of this place is what sets it apart from others. Had a light lunch with two friends, sitting on the terrace admiring the gardens, watching the giant tortoise and generally people watching. The food was good ( we all had fish and chips) and the service was fine. Shame you can't book, though we didn't wait too long... More

Lunch on the terrace under the bougainvillea whilst giant tortoises wander past, very pleasant indeed. Salads are good, I had the pear and ostrich carpaccio which was delicious. The Caesar salad not particularly great though. No reservations outside so top tip, arrive at 12 and get your table early, lunch is se bed from 12.30.

Thank Sue B
