I could go on and on about the awesome pies, cakes and torts at this heavenly place, peacefully situated on the Lao River. This open air restaurant is a part of the resort. Wooden decks and bungalows, a bamboo bridge, and lovely grounds make this...a “must stop” location. It’s always busy but the staff is very friendly and efficient. It lies just off the highway between Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. Note that it’s cash only. And did I mentioned the wonderful pies cakes and torts?More

I can't recall a trip between Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, where I haven't enjoyed at least coffee and cake at this lovely spot by the river.

We always stop here for a purchase of pies and cakes on our way through from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. It is around 40 kms south of Chiang Rai. It is a hit with the grandchildren and it gives us a taste of what...we have loved in cakes and pies from our home country (Australia). I highly recommend a stop here. However, be prepared to pay as the pies are expensive (compared to other places in Thailand), but then again expensive means better quality !! This place also attracts bus tours, so best to avoid lunch times.More

Stop by at this restaurant for lunch on the way to Chang Rai. The restaurant was a nice surprise. Food was excellent and service was good. We told that food served here were locally sourced and that made it a little special for us.

This restaurant is located between Chiangmai and Chiang Rai. It’s really like in the middle of nowhere, but suddenly there’s this big surprise of a restaurant with a large number of pies and good food with clean bathrooms. It’s located next to a river and...a farm, with homegrown vegetables and fruits. As you walk in, there’ll be a display of cakes and pies. Very tempting indeed! We tried the date cake as well as the chocolate pie. They were both excellent. At the counter, you will see some fruit candies wrapped in small plastic packets, made from mangoes, mulberries and kumquat. Again, very tempting and we fell for the temptation. The food served were simple, but tasty. The menu was huge, mainly with local Thai dishes, but it was all fabulous. What was very interesting, is that the owner (I think), manned the counter and was pointing at the lovely farm across the river and saying the fruits like mangoes and mulberries were all from there. What a wonderful place!More

Stopped here with our tour group. Great food at a reasonable rate. Open air restaurant on the river. Pies come from the 90+ year baker. Oh so good. I had the Chicken with basil and others in my group had the Chicken Fried Rice. All...were good. The pies were excellent and I believe they may truly be the best pies in Thailand. Beautiful ground and orchid trees, aviary and a walking bridge. Good place to get a meal and stretch the legs.More

This Restaurant-Café is a part of a hotel and it's on the way from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, so it's perfect to make a stop and enjoy the river views while you enjoy a piece of pie from the big selection they have. We...stopped after two hours from Chiang Rai and it took me longer to decide which piece of pie I wanted :). I counted thirty different pies! I chose passion-fruit cheesecake and my boyfriend strawberry cheesecake. Delicious!More

Yep, you read that right! Pie eaten before lunch and finished after eating lunch. The VERY BEST pie in N. Thailand. A must stop going and coming from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. The Thai food is really great too!

Charin resort locates in Maesuai, on the way to Chiang Rai. I enjoy to have a short break from driving up to Chiang Rai or on the way drive down south of Thailand. The food is not bad but not a reason to stop in...this restaurant. The reason I recommend to take a break at this resort is their various tastes of pies. I lovr young coconut pie, choco mud pie, taro pie, pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie. There are a lot more, but those above are my favorite. Price is ok....55-65 bht. Hot amaricano coffee is 50 bht. They also offer organic fruits, organic jams at readonable price. The restaurant opens daily 7am to 6pm ,please double check the time with the restaurant.More

I always make a point of stopping here on my way to or from Chiang Rai. This restaurant and resort is located overlooking a picturesque river set amongst lush tropical flora. There is a wide selection of home made cakes and jams together with a...comprehensive menu to suit all tastes, served efficiently by pleasant staff. The restaurant area has recently been tastefully extended and the toilets modernised. You can also take a look at the large aviary with a collection of exotic tropical birds or explore the accommodation and fruit gardens across the bamboo bridge. All the jams and many of the cake fillings are made from the fruits grown in these gardens. You really shouldn't miss stopping here.More
