Not only is the hotel here simply stunning and unusual, the restaurant is staggeringly good. The service is excellent and the head chef is always happy to come out from the kitchen and help select the right wines or even some amazing local beers. Go hungry and leave happy.

This is an old monastery that has been converted, in the ground, as the restaurant. the place is very beautiful. The menu is partly strictly traditional. Personally I remember a very good ribs lamb.

12 Monaci is a converted Cesterian Monastery based around a courtyard. It is the big 4 story building in Fontevivo, there is only one small sign to identify it as a hotel. Entrance is into the courtyard and car park is at the side of the building. Each collection of rooms is based around a communial dorm setting, with 12... More

Parma's region cuisine is great and 12 Monaci is an excellent example of it. We had great appetizers and "primi piatti" like Ravioli Duchessa or Anolini in brodo were simply delicious at very affordable prices. The setting, an ancient cloister reconverted into an hotel, and the service were perfect.

We've stayed here in july 2013, unfortunately only for one night. Since we had a long drive that day, with a lot of traffic in the heat, and our youngest daughter wasn't feeling well, we didn't plan on having a real dinner that evening. But at our arrival around 07.30 pm, we were asked if we wanted to have dinner... More

This guest establishment was a great surprise. The rooms are comfortable, albeit a tad small, no doubt formerly monk's cells. The staff are extremely friendly. On-site free parking. The big treat was the restaurant. Delectable fare are super-reasonable prices, an aperito on the house, impeccable service.

Lovely dining room in old monastery and the food superb, easy drive from Parma. Meal servings are very generous and we liked the local Malvasia sparkling wine.

The 12 monaci (12 monks) is a restaurant with a few rooms for the ... Pilgrims! Probably an old monastery, it's located right by the local church. The rooms are quite small (perhaps formerly monks's cells) but the food experience is what you want to go for! As a starter we had the mix of local hams and that' s... More

I stayed here with my family and group of restaurateurs from Canada last year. We all loved it! The only thing better than the food (a culinary oasis in an otherwise sleepy town) & the setting (gorgeous vaulted ceilings) is Letizia who runs the hotel. Simply one of the most endearing and charming people I've ever met. I certainly hope... More
