The chef at this kitchen must be the biggest food wizard in the region. Or maybe the gods dropped him at this place to make up for cold, long and dark winters? I have had the chance to eat here several times, and each meal is a treat from heaven. Combining local ingredients with a twist, inspired by the french... More

I was lucky to be able to attend a 3 course dinner at Sorrisniva. The service was outstanding and the quality of the food was beyond any expectation. This is a place that is very easy to recommend to others after such a fantastic evening.

Quite simply the best meal we've ever had. Another trip that we booked independently when visiting Alta with P&O Cruises Oriana. Book tours independently.....MUCH better value for money!! On arrival we had a look around the ice hotel and were initially the only people inside which made it feel so special. What a place! Afterwards we had a truly delicious... More

This was our second visit in two years. The snowmobiling was again fabulous. Having again been knitted up in fantastic gear and receiving a very good safety training talk, we set off up through the woods and onto the plateau above. Great out there in the dark with the snow and headlights on. Will definitely be using them again. Afterwards... More

Great fun, great guide. Whizzing around not as easy to steer as I imagined, but thoroughly enjoyed. Got kitted out to protect from cold, got instruction and were whisked off up the mountain and across the snowy ground.

If you are ever in Norway, you must visit this ice hotel! An amazing experience & so impressive that someone has made this all out of ice. (It was much bigger than I ever expected). We did not stay over night but even just having a look around was an experience on its own; they even have a chapel made... More

We spent a lot of money on some kind of package which included dinner - it definitely was not worth it as it seemed that all it included (apart from dinner) was an un-guided tour. They took ages to bring out our food. It was an hour between us ordering and the starter arriving, and by the time it arrived... More

Description
The restaurant Laksestua (salmon hut) has always been well known
for its special architecture, assembling the shape of a Sami lavvo and its pleasant atmosphere.

Sorrisniva is in the middle of nature’s larder: the river, the fjord and
the plateau offer excellent raw materials for the Chef to turn into delicious dishes. The kitchen follows the food calendar, ensuring
the guest have meals appropriate to the season they are in at all
time.

The restaurant has become one of Finnmark`s best, and our chef Johnny Trasti was rewarded «best chef of the year 2009» in Norway.

The restaurant is open for larger groups throghout the year and for a la carte from January to April.
