Visited early evening on a Friday, (5pm), busy, buzzing bar, good pub atmosphere. More of a bar than a restaurant. An unexpected large group of people visited, I think a funeral crowd. Although under pressure the bar staff coped really well. My wife and I decided to have a meal rather than go home and cook.. I ordered fish and... More

Our experience was mixed. One meal was nice and the other was burnt and dried up. Apparently a burger made with lamb is meant to be burnt even though the replacement was not! Unimpressed with the Spread Eagle reaction to a dried out burnt burger. £2.50 off the bill did not make up for a very poor meal. The specials... More

This could be a lot better as the Food and service can be a bit inconsistent. Another factor for those wishing to walk to the Pub is that access from the Oakley Road can be a bit precarious due to the lack of footpaths, however, access, especially for the less mobile could be a lot better from the Saxon Way... We had used this restaurant regularly for a few years - but didn't visit for approximately six months until Jan 2017. The chain (Marstons) have reviewed and reduced their menu - it may be 2 for 1 but the prices have gone up and the quality has gone down considerably. Staff were friendly but food really disappointing. Much better food... More

Nice and cosy inside, 2 for 1 meals, not the best food, I always have bbq ribs and chicken and is decent.

A party of 16 of us had pre-booked the 3-course Festive meal for the week before Christmas. We had said we would arrive at 7.30, and would like the meal served from about 8pm. They seemed to want to get us sat down immediately at 7.30. The bar service was very slow - only 1 or 2 staff for a... More

We went as a large family group for an evening meal. The place was quite quiet and so not much atmosphere when we were there. So many pubs don't serve a decent pint and so to find good hand pulled beer was a bonus, and a number of pints were duly consumed. The food menu is extensive with all the... More
