Very nice rustic place, very welcome. Despite a holiday return from the owners, we had a very friendly menu of the day, very good value for money. No complaints about the kitchen, it's very good.
We'll be back with pleasure.

It was our return to this restaurant during a day exploring Mervent and its surroundings. Very welcome, we had booked. Large spacious and bright room, at lunch we took the menu at a reasonable price, good products. Always served on time, ... We'll be back, of course.

For the past 13 years I've been driving past La Joletiere, but this was the first time I've ever stopped and gone in. It turns out that I've been missing a treat.
This is by no stretch of the imagination a new restaurant - it's been in business for over a century - and yet it appears to have been missed entirely by Trip Advisor contributors.
This is a shame.
La Joletiere is a throwback to a different era. The dining room is furnished in dark, heavy wood and is replete with stuffed animals, moth eaten to varying degrees.
The food is firmly rooted in traditional French cookery. Menus range from 11.50€ to 31€ and many (including ours at a very fair 21.5€, or, in one case, 26€) ran to five generous courses.
Openers included offerings of sea food (langoustines / Dublin Bay prawns), avocado prawns, melon dressed with pineau and salade de chèvre chaude. This was followed by duck rillettes and home-made pork terrine. Main course choices included fish and meat classic dishes such as slow braised pigs' cheeks, guinea fowl and zander cooked en papillot. There was a heavy reliance on local, seasonal, ingredients.
The cheese plater was exceptional - a really good selection of local and nationally-known cheeses of real quality.
Desserts were simple: icecreams and home made fruit tarts.
Service was good, the wine very sensibly priced and they provide a children's menu. Note that this is a lunchtime venue only (evenings are possible for large parties only and by prior arrangement) and the restaurant is not open on Wednesdays.
Overall a fine experience and a "must" for anyone with a hankering for a bit of culinary nostalgia.

Family restaurant established for a long time.. historic setting but a lot of care and a price TOO competitive. It's not possible ! You deserve more ! Well done to the team anyway

Very good menu. Quite a wait but the place was very nice. Fairly expensive menus. Impeccable service.
