We have just been for a meal as we have done many times before and I have to the service and quality of food was appalling , there was a gathering of staff sat on the next table one of which had a very large...dog ! The dog was wearing a friendly harness but was barking very loud and did not settle down , I’m a dog person but I feel as a very big dog a lot of people could be very intimidated by this .we won’t be returning I’m sad to say .More

£15 to moor a 4.8m rib for 2 hours for lunch said would reduce to £10 because we only stay for 2 hours . So glad we said no and went to Cowes. Green King own the pub and the mooring, do you pay to...use a pub car park? Went to coast restaurant in Cowes and had lobster chips couple of decent bottles of wine spent well over £100 pure folly on the part of the Folly Inn it was pretty much empty when we arrived. Used to go here lots years ago and have been several times by car will not return. Looks like I made the right decision looking at the vast majority of the recent reviews. Plenty of better options, don’t mind paying to moor or park but not to the venue that I’m eating at.More

Saturday 19/7/21 - OMG... I only wish that we had read up on the reviews before are weekend trip. We have eaten at the Folly before and and then stayed away till this weekend, the berthing manager did a great job of selling the 'berthing...and breakfast' idea and explaining that there was new management, so we thought we would give it another go. The breakfast meal was o.k. but the advertised filter coffee was in fact instant, dinners were to get there own tea and coffee (no Covid controls on this at all). later we thought we would give them another chance at a main meal (god did we wish we stayed at the breeze in island harbour). We sat down and waited for 40 minutes to be served, then we waited 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive, 1 hour later the meal arrived which had been cooked in dirty old and burnt oil, this was sent back. after another 30 minutes are new meals came to the table, not as burnt but still cooked in the same dirty oil. Needless to say we lost are appetites at this stage. Other customers around us returned food too, I don't know how they got that dish wrong seeing it was one of the things on the menu that is a pre-packed meal. The Folly inn could be a very profitable venue but Greene king need to get a manager that can build a happy motivated team, Kitchen staff that follow Greene king's processes and procedures (they are there for a reason) and turn this round ASAP. or sell it and let people that know how to turn it around have a go. We will not be eating there again, as an ex-employee of Greene king and a head chef, my wife was discussed with the whole evening.More

We are regular visitors living within a couple of miles, but love visiting The Folly because it is a wonderful place to relax with simple pub grub and a good selection of drinks including cask ales, non alcoholic cocktails and wine. Tonight they were finishing...a busy weekend, with some extremely over demanding customers, yet could not have been more helpful. Despite having run short of some items, alternatives were suggested and nothing was too much trouble. If you are a vegan, you are blessed with a choice of a Meatless Farms burger, Chickpea & Red Pepper & Hoisin Burger , Lentil Cottage Pie, Mushroom & Ale Pie, Sweet potato, chickpea and Red Pepper Koftas, a vegan fish and chips and a vegan Bakewell tart as well as the usual ice crams and sorbets. The Folly is somewhere you can come and relax with pub grub, but you have to accept that it can become very busy, very quickly, with unrealistic expectations from some customers.More

We visited the folly for s drink on Saturday 17 July it was a very warm sunny day , it wasn’t very busy a lot of empty tables we sat on a drinks only table my husband got a drinks menu from the bar ....We waited 20 minutes before anyone took are orders the waiter did apologise for the long wait , he took are order and we expected are drinks to arrive shortly. We waited another 20 minutes unfortunately we had to be somewhere else and we just couldn’t wait any longer so we left . We felt awful because we couldn’t even find a member of staff to cancel our order . I don’t blame the staff at all they we’re all working very hard , but obviously not enough of them . Very disappointing won’t be returning in a hurryMore

We went to The Folly Inn for lunch. Wow! What a find, the view is beautiful, watching the boats come in. The staff were so friendly and we arrived an hour earlier than when we had booked our table but they accommodated us with no...problem at all. Was nice to be given the choice of what table to sit at as well as these days u are normally told where to sit. We could have sat there all afternoon, such a relaxing place. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely return again.More

Having decided to make a return visit to the Folly i was totally disappointed with the entire experience. The pub had not changed much in appearance but a shadow of its former appeal in every other respect. The food was of poor quality, the service...slow and some items extraordinarily expensive. One of my party ordered Caesar salad which took nearly one hour serve - only it was not Caesar Salad. When pointed out it was replaced in five minutes with a dish which if served as a starter, would have been judged as totally inadequate. I could add more. One member only if our four person party had a meal that could be described as acceptable and as described on the menu. Having arrived at the Folly by yacht we had to rely on the Water Taxi to get ashore - an absolute rip off! From the pontoon to the Folly jetty was about 150 yards each way. The charge was £4 in advance per person - the mooring charge for short stay £9 - the total berthing charge for a visit of 3hours to eat sub standard food for a party of four £25!!! On leaving the pub we had to wait for nearly half an hour for the ferry to appear! Two years since my last visit - a change in ownership or about three years I guess before the next.More

Was so looking forward to going back up to The Folly for a fun night and a great atmosphere, okay, it wouldn't be the same with all the restriction, but sorry, there is know excuse for what we had. Dirty tables, bad service and rubbish...food and guys grinding away on a boat trolley until god knows when, as they were still going when we got the river taxi at 10pm. and it stank of burning. Seriously this lot would never be able to handle the crowds that used to go in on the old days, with fabulous service and food. There was hardly anyone there on the Friday night and they couldn't even get this right. Don't waste your time and money until they sort themselves out. Very disappointed and I never write reviewsMore

After ringing twice to confirm booking as family arriving from mainland They had no booking for us when we arrived. There was a table available thankfully. The sharing platter was like Iceland’s party food. Our mains were a disappointment I had a chicken leek and...mushroom pie which consisted of two small pieces of chewy chicken which the dog ate. I appreciate that there are staff shortages but we waited so long for our drinks and meals we ran out of time to consider even a pudding as family had to return to mainland Such a shame as this was such a lovely pub to eat at but now they have changed hands it’s awful Won’t be ever returning until they change hands again I’m afraid.More

Greeted at the door by a lovely man called Kevin Who also took our drink order. Great atmosphere with a live singer. The food delicious, fish and chips/ signature hunters chicken! Such a lovely pub with beautiful views and attentive staff. Special mention to Ben...and Sam whom I assume is the manager, who checked on us during the meal. I will return without a doubt!More
