After year I went back and the restaurant didn't disappointed at all. The environment and decoration is great, but the best is the food! You have a wide selection of mains courses . We've try the Maria Rita cod, and all the meat main courses! Go for all of them! The road to reach there looks like is gonna end... More

If you want the portuguese experience go now! Maria Rita is a fine restaurant true to tradition and to portuguese gastronomy. Their alheiras and olive oil are to die for.

We traveled 180 km at night, throught the narrowest road ever, just to have dinner over Maria Rita, last week. To tell the truth, we wil do it again, once or twice, should we had to come back to eat the best meal ever. People at the restaurant were kind to the limits, let alone the atmosphere itself, wich can... More

It's been over a decade since I last visited Maria Rita, in Romeu. I had been there several times on my way from Spain and loved it every single time. I recently was in the vicinity and decided to check if the restaurant was still open. I was afraid it had lost its charm, but I couldn't have been more... More

After a long trip and a little bit of navigating we managed to find this wonderful restaurant. The outside looks like any other house in the town, and it looks great. The decoration meets the traditional standards for the northeast of Portugal and is very welcoming. The food is great, well served (one portion is enough for two persons). The... More

Maria Rita has resisted to time, motorways, economic crisis: fifty years later, quality never ceased to improve, decoration became exquisite... and food not only preserved the best of old time, slow time cooking methods, but it also found new ways of preparing the products of the region.

This is one of the most wonderfull restuarants i ever been. Is located in a small village, in a typic house. In winter is very warm and cosy. The food is excelent! I recomend "spoa sec". You should book before going there. A great experience.

After leaving the Picos de Europa(Spain), we headed south & this was out 1st lunch in Portugal. I was drawn there by a guide book which said the building has been a restaurant since the Middle Ages. Their wine & olive oil were SPECIAL. Comfortable & attractive dining areas with excellent, patient service for our party which spoke no Portuguese.... More

This restaurant has been a classic of the region for quite some time. And that's very well deserved. Let me start by saying that they produce (and serve, of course) an excellent wine and the best olive oil in Portugal (one of the top 10 in the world). The restaurant is a beautiful traditional house in a very quiet typical... More
