Visited last minute for an evening meal after hearing good reviews - no problem getting a table (a tuesday night though) - Gentleman behind the bar was kept busy as also serving and taking orders but this didn't affect the service as he was very attentive. I had a lovely seasoned mushroom soup and hubby had the oysters and also... More

If you love seafood this has to be at the top of the list. This was my first visit after a number of recommendations and we were not disappointed by either the food or the service. The menu is wonderful and full of choices for everyone, including seafood, chicken, lamb or beef. For me it had to be the scallops... More

We came across This lovely restaurant and pub by pure chance after coming out Bowes museum late. We were quite late and finally saw the place from the Darlington road. The welcome was proper and after waiting a while at the bar we were granted seats in the restaurant . The board to choose from was so wide and all... More

Gorgeous food. The mussels starter was the die for and generous amount of mussels. The steak was cooked to perfections with a fantastic peppercorn sauce. My only comments would be the chips were a little too crisp for my liking, and there were not a lot of starters for non-fish eaters. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the food.

Despite the menu board being predominantly seafood I opted for the steak. I wasn't dissapointed it was simply superb, probably the best I've had. It's not the dining experience of local restaurants but is a pub after all. Whilst good it was also quite pricey. I'd go back for sure and need to sample some of that seafood on offer.
