The setting is delightful and the staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. All produce used is locally sourced, fresh, good quality. The breakfast is outstanding, never eaten better, served hot and fresh and at a very good price.

Having had a first class takeaway coffee our daughters treated us to breakfast/brunch during our week on holiday. We booked a table as we could see that it was a popular place to eat, and when we arrived we were immediately offered an alternative and nicer table by the friendly and helpful staff member. Our food and drink order were taken promptly and our drinks arrived speedily. Once again, the coffee was first rate. Our food took a little longer to come than we expected but it wasn’t a particular issue for us and once it arrived we could see that it had been cooked to order rather than assembled on a plate and heated up. It was simply delicious. I had the D and R poached eggs which were perfection served on sourdough with wilted spinach and a tangy wholegrain mustard sauce. Other members of our party had the smoky eggs and Ali’s special and all were impressed. The only constructive (hopefully!) suggestion to make is that the food is so delicious that though the portions sizes looked reasonable the dishes were so filling that if it wasn’t for a particularly ravenous offspring there would have been a lot of left overs. The staff were lovely - friendly and helpful - and the food was different, delicious and reasonably priced so we rolled out of the Dog and Rabbit in very contented fashion indeed.

What an amazing find! Stumbled on it after seeing a café sign and well worth the visit. The atmosphere is welcoming and very friendly, bustling with a steady stream of customers. We had egg (double) and chips (£8.50each) and a pot of tea for two. Eggs were cooked nicely, chips were gorgeous and so many, teapot managed to give us 3 cups each, very generous. We were full by then but my husband liked the look of the bread pudding on the counter, so we took a very large slice of it home. All together a lovely meal, well cooked and I think a very reasonable price, can't wait to come again.

After visiting the beautiful Jackson Foundation Gallery (reviewed by me separately) we found the Dog & Rabbit nearby and popped in for a snack.
The little restaurant is cosy and pretty. The staff was friendly and the food was great, What more does one need??
We took two hearty bowls of delicious Leek & Potato Soup, that was served with two whopping slices of delicious multigrain bread with butter.
Perfect for the rainy day it was!!
Not to be Missed!!

I just love this place. Seriously, it should have a full five stars on TA. If I could give it more than ten stars I would. It's so rare that you find somewhere as consistently excellent for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Lots of different breakfast dishes to try (all of them incredible), high quality, fresh ingredients, excellently prepared, and good value for money. These people are simply brilliant at what they do. The friendly welcoming staff are always wonderful, despite how busy the cafe always is. I'm in awe!

Visited on a Saturday morning in summer, they were clearly very busy but found space for us on a table that had a booking in a little less than an hour; we were very happy with that. Full English and pot of tea ordered, tea was served in a pot with china cups, a lovely touch. The breakfast was the best breakfast I’ve had for a long while, every component was tasty, I am a meat eater through and through but could quite happily eat a veggie breakfast here as the hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans, eggs and tomatoes were absolutely delicious. The bacon and sausages were top quality and lovely too but I cannot get over how delicious every single mouthful was. Thank you dog and rabbit, we’ll definitely be back again!

Reliably great food and service. Just coffees, with cakes or a full breakfast / brunch they are always generous, tasty and top quality. Flexible with menu changes. Empathetic and appropriate advice offered for specific dietary needs. Friendly efficient staff. Do book - they fill up most days and deservedly so but will always try to accommodate walk-ins. Entry up a few steps; level access to outside seating. Lovely wood-burner for colder days.

This cafe is amazing! We stopped for late breakfast and were delighted to find that breakfast is served until 12:30pm. We ordered a full Cornish and the Ali special (mushroom, avocado, egg and tomato goodness). It was so delicious. Lovely coffee and fantastic service too. Will be back next time we visit the area.

The best traditional cooked breakfast I have had. I went for the Small Cornish (see photo). Excellent sausage, bacon, fried egg. The grilled tomatoes were really good, and the perfectly cooked mushrooms were outstanding. Baked beans added a good balance and were perfect with the surprisingly good granary toast that came on a separate side plate, ready buttered and delicious. There was a hash brown as well, but nothing like the bog-standard oven ready type you often get. This was quite unique, and seasoned with something like cumin I think.
My wife went for the Dog & Rarebit, and said it was really good too. It looked huge, with a large slice of rarebit toast along with piles of salad that included unexpected treats such as dried figs.
According to the guy in the photo behind the coffee machine (did I mention - the coffee was superb too?), they've been there for 5 years, and it was running as a cafe for 5 years before that too. Just off the central square in the town, and there's free parking in the square as well as a larger free car park not far down the road to Cape Cornwall, including several spaces for disabled parking and some public toilets and a bus stop.
We went at around 11am on a Monday, and it was pretty busy and quite a few tables had signs for being reserved for lunch. You might be lucky like us, but it could be worth booking ahead.

Serving staff delightful. Food very nice. Prices OK B U T ……..
Overcharged by £11!
No itemised bill provided and seemed to rely on simple handwritten ‘tickets’ at till.
When I queried the amount because it seemed seemed excessive they had charged for 3 portions of something we had only had 1!
Hopefully a genuine mistake BUT no itemised bill and significantly overcharged.
nevertheless and no real apology!
Hopefully a genuine mistake but nevertheless unprofessional so best avoid if you can.
A great shame as there is so much competition in St Just these days.

We came to The Dog and Rabbit Cafe for a late lunch. Unfortunately some of the menu items were no longer available, having sold out earlier in the day (we were quite late). We didn't mind. We still had a good choice and I like the ethos of eating fresh food. I had an excellent burger with fries and salad, and my partner had a rarebit; all freshly cooked using wholesome ingredients. There are good options for vegetarians and vegans. The cafe offers an attractive range of cakes, interesting soft drinks, excellent coffee and teas and a small range of alcoholic beverages. Service was excellent - both friendly and efficient - and the place was very busy. The decor is quirky, warm and welcoming too. It's a good brunch or lunch spot for anyone visiting The Jackson Foundation Gallery which is just across the road from here.

This could not have been better! Vibrant atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. Cornish breakfast was large, choice of sourdough, granary or white toast, everything cooked well and bacon that tasted so good.
Coffee is from a roasters and was so good I had two large cups.
I highly recommend here!

We had a wonderful relaxing breakfast in here. I had the smokey cheese with scrambled eggs on toast....tasty and filling set me up for the day, washed down with a well made flat white.
Son had the VLT and a Chai Latte which he consumed with vigour!

We've been here a couple of times and both times we've had a lovely experience. The decor and furnishings in The Dog & Rabbit Cafe are really up our street. Lot's of interesting furniture and pictures.
The staff are well informed and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients that go into it. I've eaten the full Veggie breakfast which was one of the best cooked breakfast's I've had. The coffee is very nice, too.
I hope to return again soon.

Lovely atmosphere - family friendly, dog friendly. Food was great and the staff fabulous. Portion sizes were excellent - my goats cheese/ pear sandwiches were huge and came with salad, slaw and crisps. As I wasn't expecting such sizeable sandwiches I had also ordered a portion of hand cut chips which were delicious.
