I like this place and have been a number of times. But tonight I they charges $13.50 for a vodka and $25 entry. I won't be coming back. Don't mind paying for expensive drinks but when you're charged so much entry...

We couldnt find anything open on a recent Sunday night but luckily The Argyle was. We popped in for a jug of cocktails and it was lovely. A nice venue with a funky vibe. I have read other comments about the security and I respect those views but I found the security to be helpful and courteous.

Doormen deny access based on shoes and if you "look right". Our small group watched a fight break out after others were denied entry. Lots of comments like this in the reviews.

It's an attractive tavern but the food was poor. I bought a chicken burger. I was lucky to get two pieces of chicken the size of 20cent pieces. I wouldn't bother paying a cover charge but have a drink and poke around. Then go elsewhere for decent fair.

Terrible service. Everything seemed great, but for some reason the bar decided to close early and wouldn't serve us.

So I did it again and went to argyle again even after my first experience in this place was terrible! It was definitely the last time ! The food is disgusting ! We ordered a few things to share at the table and there was not one nice dish! ( few weeks ago ) Last night we went there by... More

This place ruined my friend's Birthday. Paid for the entrance, bought a bottle of wine which we never got the chance to drink all because my friend lit a cigarette. It's her first time in Australia and we wanted to welcome her Birthday in a place that is well known (turned out to be well known as the worse place... More

I have been to the Argyle several times, it is a hit and miss to whether or not it's going to be busy, although it's usually busier than not because of it's location. There is plenty of seating whether inside or outside in the courtyard. It can get quite noisy, but it is a good place to start an evening... More

Spent a few evening over there, and it is very pleasant. Good atmosphere, staff is great but the service is a bit slow. Their Pizza are good and cocktails even better, I loved their Mojito and their Amaretto Sour !

This is a large bar/nightclub with an atmospheric courtyard. We went on a Sunday afternoon and had a cocktail jug for 25 dollars because it was happy hour. The bar was very quiet at this time with a relaxed atmosphere. There was no wifi.

Description
There's no question that The Rocks is home to some of Sydney's most intriguing historical stories. And our landmark venue, The Argyle, has a unique, rich history all of its own. The sandstone walls that house The Argyle had seen some interesting sights well before we all hit the dance floor.Situated in one of Australia's oldest buildings, The Argyle is richly historic, while maintaining a uniquely modern take. With five bars held over two levels, we have a variety of areas to suit any mood. Whether you choose to hide away in a booth, gather friends around the high tables, chill out in the lounges or venture in to the open-air cobbled courtyard - the choice is yours. With capacity for up to 1800 guests, it's also the ideal location for large-scale events and celebrations.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
