I love the menu at The Fine Food Store, which contains old favourites and modern, interesting dishes, prepared with top quality ingredients. I take a star off for the ridiculous prices charges for sides - $4.50 for 1 and a half medium field mushrooms is in my opinion a rip off. We ordered poached eggs on toast and shared mushrooms,... Had a salad (quinoa which I don't usually like) with halomi and avocado added on. Really tasty with good sized serving. Coffee great - hot water on the side request meant didn't get the usual shot of sparkling cold water which was a shame. Good reliable service and food.

My wife and I have a rule, if we are getting the feeling the service is bad and the staff are disinterested, we leave. I had that feeling while waiting forever in line to give my order but didn't leave as my wife had been before and enjoyed it. The quesadillas were dry, the cheese was solid and not melted,... More

We dropped in for a coffee and chose the simple seating outside opposite a museum. Other patrons commented the food was rather nice. The outside seating was small in the mall area but ample seating inside. Pleasant staff and good service.

A lovely stroll through the Rocks area of Sydney to find this quaint cafe with a true rustic feel. The coffee was A+ but could only have a regular size the breakfast served was hot & tasty.

For the price, the Fine Food Store offered food that seemed average for the price with nonetheless good coffee. We had the mashed avo and the mushroom dish. These tasted mediocre at best and the food was stacked on the plate in what I'd typically get in a sleepy cafe far from the city. The coffee was good --as one... More

Great place for fine breakfast in the Rocks area. We enjoyed the burgers and coffee. Service is quite prompt and courteous considering the number of people in the store. We highly recommend this place.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
