Oh my God. Where do I start?? I visited Sydney for New Year's and naturally, my fiance and I wanted to try a local Australian steakhouse. We stumbled upon The Cut which is conveniently located in The Rocks, right near the harbour. The restaurant is settled in a trendy underground space with beautiful atmosphere. I admired the rustic wooden beams,... More

So ultimately disappointing. The website says "Housed in a unique underground space with cellar doors that open onto the heritage courtyard of The Argyle". What that means is that it is underground with no windows and has a slightly claustrophobic atmosphere. The service is excellent - friendly and attentive - can't be faulted, So as you might expect the steaks... More

Great service but you would expect that when you see the prices. The food was excellent although 3 scallops for an entree we felt was a bit mean considering we were paying top dollar. The side salad I had with my t-bone steak was one of the best I've had. There was a good selection of veges in the salad... More

The Cut is so much more than the food. The ambience outside, the quality of the food, the great service and the interaction with others makes this a fantastic place to dine with friends/business associates. Highly recommended.

Half the time you eat in a restaurant it's the service that makes it. It was a wonderful experience to eat here. Rather expensive so if you are on a tight budget wouldn't be suitable. Cheapest bottle of red was $68 and my steak $65. In saying this it was a divine piece of meat. Well worth the experience

I dined here on Boxing Day with my wife, as nearly everything else was closed in the area. The prime rib was excellent, although I did not see the trolley it was supposedly served from. I ordered a side of "shoestring fries," but I would not describe them as shoestring, as they were standard cut with nothing gourmet about them.... More

One of the most tender and tasty pieces of beef I have ever had. Their signature cut of beef is worth the visit. A great lunch experience

My partner and I went to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. In fact we have celebrated every anniversary here to date and intend to continue to do so into the future. We didn't have a booking this year so we were sat at the bar and moved as soon as a table became available. The service was impeccable and food was... More

Look I gave it a 4 but would have if had the choice given a 3.5. I understand the meat was very good and the selection of cuts broad. But to me I wasn't salivating after my first mouthful. I was a bit dissapointed in my entree, I had the slightly overcomes scallops with a non existent scampi. I feel... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
