I gave my sisters a hight tea as a gift and unfortunately the experience was not pleasant. Mostly the service let this premises down, I will not buy it as a gift or will try it myself.

The food was fantastic without a scone in sight. Loved the detailed, retro-chic decor for an experience out of the ordinary not to mention great value for money.

My sister, mum and I have been to many High Teas in Sydney, and thought it would be a nice treat to try a slightly less traditional option at Food Society after seeing a Groupon and several great reviews on the venue. After all, my sister had been to Food Society for dinner and thought the food was incredible. Unfortunately,... More

Generally not a fan of Eastern European Food but the menu looked interesting and decided to give it a go. Not disappointed. Everything was well seasoned and tasted as it sounded on the menu. Dishes were innovative and on the whole well executed. Surroundings very pleasant and music while good was not invasive. Recommended

If you like your high tea experience please, please, please stay away from this place! Food Society completely ruined our experience. Went with a Groupon and only purchased it because of the great reviews on the website. Completely overrated! We were greeted promptly and were asked to sit down on a large shared table, which was ok- we did ask to... More

I bought this Groupon as a gift for my friend after see great reviews for the vodka high tea, food and general service. We were seated by the hostess and from there the service just went completely downhill. We sat for 20 minutes without our tea orders being taken. I had to ask the waitress what was going on and... We tried the pork knuckle, the cured salmon, the feta custard, and the beef cheek croquettes. The pork knuckle was tender and crispy on the outside- as it should be. The cured salmon was a refined dish and very pleasing. And the feta custard was pretty memorable with the mushroom confit! But the most amazing thing we did was venture... More

Eastern Euro fare with a twist? you bet. It's a totally share menu that belies its inspiration from the former Eastern Bloc. It couldn't be easier, choose a tasting board of three canapes with matching vodkas followed by a main dish. The choices are endless as is their beers. Book, there is no other workable way to relish the spirit... More

Dinner for four. We tried a variety of appetisers and mains. Especially delicious we're the cauliflower and dumplings. All other dishes were highly enjoyable. The service was friendly and efficient. Only one dish - the spatleze was not so good. Highly recommend this restaurant. Especially for a group of friends to share the variety of flavored.

The food, venue and drinks at Food Society are impeccable. I feel the Festival Feasts menu isn’t bad for $30-, however considering five us shared three mains I hope the general public get one each. The venue needs to look at staffing levels because they were inadequate to match the demand of the patrons. I will return to Food Society... More

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
