Read all the reviews and thought we would try this out for breakfast. Definitely did not disappoint. Cute place. Owner and staff very friendly and polite. Coffee was great. Food was superb. We are visiting from the country but intend to go back again tomorrow....I had the granola with yoghurt and fruit and some sourdough toast. Generous 3 pieces. Hubby had the bolognaise mince on toast. Food and coffee fantastic.More

This is a great place for a coffee. The barista really knows what he's doing, and they have a huge variety of different styles, blends, single-origin beans, etc. The food is super yummy, and the atmosphere is surprisingly friendly and calm for a cafe in...the middle of the city. It's a great place to sit for a while, play chess, read and relax away from the busyness of the city.More

We had the spinach and ham omelettes which were both well-cooked and tasty. The coffee was delicious but it was the welcoming atmosphere from Alan and everyone there that added sunshine to the meal.

Very cute cafe, it was lovely sitting there for a late brunch. The hot chocolate was amazing and the food was also tasty. The owner was very friendly, taking the time to have a chat. He was also kind enough to make us a special...treat of a marshmallow toasted over a cup of hot chocolate, so delicious.More

Service is excellent and the breakfast is filling and very high quality. Highly recommend. My husband had the big breakfast with scrambled eggs and I had the Stormin Norman with smoked salmon. Both meals were great.

Alan loves to have a chat. Say hello to Alan for me when you visit. You can’t miss him, as he’ll probably want to have a very intelligent chat with you, like how he has done his bit for the beautification of Commonwealth Street with...his bright yellow marigolds on the footpath, by the entrance door. See, he really cares - about your food and beverages too. Like your four bean blend coffee; your mango smoothie; your eggs Benne etc. Ahhh, then there is his Stormin’ Norman tribute breakfast. I hope you like red onions. And bring back those white chocolate pancakes, Alan! This is all well worth checkin’ out! Especially if your name is Norman.More

For me, the mood a place sets says a lot about it. Joe Black starts with the smell surrounding it’s place (a bit of coffee and a bit of chocolate as well) and then welcomes you in with blues music and a decoration that makes...you feel cozy within. The menu is great, making it hard to decide what to order, the taste is even better and the coffee is a delight for a sophisticated customer. I loved having breakfast at this place and I absolutely recommend it.More

Smashed avo +egg was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Loved the atmosphere with some good old blues playing and moustache theme. We're only in Sydney for 4 days but we'll be fitting in a second visit for sure.
