My girlfriend was coming home after 6 months abroad and I wanted to take her somewhere really special. We were not disappointed: I booked 6 months in advance and requested a table next to a window. When we got there, we were led upstairs to a glass room with not very many tables, which gave a really intimate feel. I... More

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Quay. Previous visits over the years were fantastic and we held Quay as our number one restaurant. We had the tasting menu with matching premium wines. Unfortunately on this occasion the food did not disappoint but the service was not up to scratch. The only face we recognised was the manager... The restaurant food is good and unusual with a great wine selection. You have 2 choices; either a 4 course or an 8 course with wine pairing. We were 3 couples, but all have to choose the same (4 or 8). We picked the 4, but each course has different selections. All could pick what they want from each course.... More

Invited to Quay on a repeat "date" night. Wow ! From memory a set four course meal with four or five selections for each course. The stand outs were the lamb for mains and the "snow cone" for dessert. Lamb that literally melted in your mouth, and the snow cone was sublime. Sommelier chose the wines to accompany each dish.... A truly disappointing experience. For a place that prides itself in delivering a "rich experience", it is safe to say that I walked away with an experience I rather forget. This was my second and last time at Quay and the level of service and attention to detail has worsened substantially since my last visit. From crumbling plastic cutlery, to... More

Being a big Masterchef Australia fans we visited Quay just before Christmas. We have watched Chef Peter Gilmore work his magic many times on TV. We treated ourselves to the tasting menu and paired wines to suit. This was truly superb and perfect. The presentation was extraordinary and precise, a work of art with the most wonderful flavours. Our table... More

Always a favourite. Yummy food, great degustation (both vegetarian & non). Overlooking harbour & classic landmarks. Wish they allowed kids under 5 (I'd go more often!) but other than that can't fault them.

Great service matched with the best view of Sydney. The food is out of this world, with the most amazing presentation ever. Impeccable service and the wine list is amazing!

Pete Gilmore has worked his craft with his staff at Quay for a number of years successfully and it isn't waning or getting tired or being the same. It's difficult to point to any restaurant in Sydney that continues to deliver no matter what day you sit down or what time (lunch / dinner). You have tables that just drink... More

This place is deservedly rated one of the best in the world. Try their incredible snow egg dessert if you get the chance. And to match the food is one of the world's great views. It's expensive but if you want a meal to remember for a lifetime this is a great choice. The chef also oversees the fine dining restaurant... Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
