Rainy, busy Mother's Day lunch with guests lining up in the wet for entry at 11.50; asked for entry to escape the rain but told we can enter when they are ready at 12n. Once inside no warm welcome, simply asked for the booking name and pointed to table. Cold, impartial atmosphere and although Mother's Day can be a disjointed... More

Isn't it funny how all restaurants have "one of the best chefs in Sydney"? This place serves the freshest fish and seafood in an elegant, understated ambiance with great service.

We decided to take the trip down to Glebe as a birthday treat... my extent of eating fish normally is barramundi and calamari..... so when we sat down and saw no barramundi on the menu I was alarmed. After the initial shock I decided to test the waters and let go, I ordered the mackerel and my wife ordered the... More

Our daughter who lives in Sydney took us to the Boathouse on a Saturday night - we had a perfect night out. The restaurant is on top of Sydney Uni boathouse so is right on the water and darkness of course lends enchantment with twinkling lights and shadowy water. We had a window table and noticed noise levels were contained-... More

This restaurant is better than average but not 'very' good. Four of us dined here and nothing really shone. Service was abrupt The waiter appeared 'world weary' and showed no enthusiasm. I was prepared to think he was just aloof, but the others weren't so generous. I had heard about the fish pie so I had that (so too my... More

Went here for a birthday dinner. Has been some time since our last visit. Not again. When you live in Sydney there are so many other choices. Had to pick three wines before one was found in stock that was on the wine list. The fish on the menu dated the day of our visit was not available. When a... More

On our recent visit to the Boathouse it appeared that the underlying philosophy may be that, while the service is poor, a complimentary bottle of wine should have resulted in patrons leaving without any sense of disappointment. Unfortuntely while the compensation was certainly a generous response to failings in the dining room and kitchen, it is not really what one... More

One of my favourite seafood restaurants in Sydney, I have eaten here many times for both lunch and dinner. My last visit was a few years back, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of service and the food was right up to scratch. The view across to the fish markets and Anzac bridge are really nice and... More

I have been to the Boathouse a few times over the years and it's still one of my favourite places to take friends too. This time I had friends visiting from Melbourne and they loved it. The location is perfect, close to Darlkng Harbour where they were staying and a short drive for us to get too. The views of... More

The last step coming down from the restaurant is quite high...take care as falling is a real possibility especially after good food and wine..its should be rectified by owner. We sat for over 4 hours on wooden chairs with hard backs...not what I would expect at this type of upmarket eatery. The food was delicious.Wine prices quite high.Limited parking available.Nice water views... Staying in Glebe

Neighbourhood Profile
Glebe
An inner city suburb along the water, Glebe has a deep-rooted sense of cultural history and heritage. It originated as a semi-rural resort for the well-to-do, but has transformed into a student-centric melting pot. Visit Glebe Point Road for ethnic cuisine as standard as Mexican, Indian, Italian and Chinese, or as diverse as Spanish, Bavarian, Polish, Czech and Lebanese. You will find that Glebe is accepting of the eccentrics and aboriginals that roam the streets, integrating students and people of all economic statuses into the multi-cultural fabric that distinguishes this suburb. Glebe Foreshore is a great destination for a leisurely walk along the Bay, and the Saturday market is a great scene for bargain hunters.
