In over 60 years roaming the world and visiting a variety of eating establishments it is very rare to leave one and say "That was perfect" I have said it only three or four times,I said it again last night.I am not without some knowledge having been in the food and beverage industry for most of that time.Snapper Rocks is in a perfect location, easy parking, beautifully sited on the Darwin waterfront very attractive in appearance with a variety of seating from inside to under the stars,on entry it has one of the most attractive bars you will see, with a world champion mixologist, that was obvious from the cocktails,we were then lucky enough to be presented with the new menu with something for everyone at very reasonable prices the three of us close different dishes, chicken steak and lamb they were brilliant each wanting the others dishes,my wife had the best steak she can remember in many a year the desserts were perfect also, how we found room for them I will never know. The serious point of this review is that all eating establishments have had a rough stressful time over the last few months, this place is a family run enterprise not a multi national who care for their staff and customers and have created a beautiful establishment to spend time enjoying food, drink and company, they deserve support because to loose a place of this stature would be criminal,so until the borders open again and life gets back to something like normal support your locals. I would add the three ladies on the next table to us had a most amazing fish board which they told me they had never experienced anything as nice.so get using your eateries. This is a place with smiling staff who have pride in what they send out on a plate.

Love the decor in this place. You can sit inside in the a/c or outside. The salt and pepper crocodile for entree was a really good serving and delicious. We shared the buffalo burger (for the first time, but a bit gamey for us) and it was well presented with fresh chips ($4 extra). Good drinks menu. Recommended.

We visited for lunch without having had any advance plan to do so, but we found we had a voucher to use from our hotel staycation package. As we walked by Snapper Rocks we were enticed but the ultra casual beach bar style but wanted something more than just fish and chips! We found it! Attentive service, full wine list, cooling misters to make outside dining a treat and enjoyable, unfussy, uncomplicated but really good food. Fried croc pieces to start then generous Barra portions for mains - both grilled and battered. Bring your appetites!! All washed down with Croser rosé at quite a reasonable markup by comparison to other bottles. No qualms at all about our unexpected lunch visit!

*sigh* this was not a review I wanted or expected to write. No, I expected that i would be so overwhelmed by the wonderful food, cocktails and service that i would be penning a glowing review. Sadly, this is not to be the case. Upon arrival at 7.45pm on Saturday, we were meet by a friendly fellow, who upgraded our reservation to inside from the patio. In hindsight, this was likely not an upgrade as it was extremely noisy inside, and the patio would have given off a more relaxing atmosphere. It was my birthday, and i mentioned this to the waitress and informed her that we wanted to place drink and entree orders and then later order meals after relaxing with a few drinks. She said this was fine. I then asked for a cocktail recommendation and she laughed and said she hadn't tried any but the mango daiquiri was popular. Ummm okay? Then i asked about the dips and asked what they were tonight and she said she wasn't sure. I just looked blankly at her thinking that she might have been joking. When it was clear she wasn't, she went to find out and returned to advise it was a beetroot and herb dip. What arrived was dukkha and a very plain tasting beetroot dip. Kinda herby, i guess. On our second cocktail at around 8.30pm (45mins after we arrived, and while still eating entrees) she said the kitchen was closing and we had to place our final meal orders or we would not get any. I was rather put out by this and i felt rushed but regardless i ordered the eye fillet, and hubby ordered Bou buns. Food arrived and was surprising rather tough for an eye fillet, buns were apparently tasty. I then asked for 'another' expresso martini and was told they have cleaned the coffee machine now so i will need to pick something else. Pardon? I have been drinking them tonight, surely you would make enough up to keep supplying patrons? Isn't the bar where they make their money? The care factor by staff was just missing... I just shook my head and ordered a mojito that i didn't even finish as it was horrible, and was not a mojito. We left and when paying we were asked how everything was, and i basically said the above. He just looked at me and said, "oh, well i hope you had a nice evening regardless?" *sigh* I had such high hopes considering it has won awards, and while the food was not bad, it was the staff that truly let the place down. They just ... didn't care. They were not rude or anything, just coasting with no real care factor. The bar too had so much potential but fell short in service and quality. Will we be back? No.

The view is nice but it goes downhill from there. We ordered cocktails, excellent, then two mains with sides. The first main comes and we suspect the second went to the table next to us. 20 minutes later, we asked after our main, to be told it was coming. It eventually arrived at the table next to us, who apologised and said they must have delivered ours to them. We sorted it out amongst ourselves. The server was aware my husband had long finished his meal by the time mine arrived but nothing was said, we did point out the delay. Mistakes can be made and I was going to let this pass; however the bill came and we were charged a public holiday surcharge, of which we had not be informed. I queried this and the server said it was Darwin wide. We had a nice lunch with friends and nothing was mentioned about a surcharge; at the very least we should have been informed. And now the server says, if we want it waived, we can go an argue with the manager about it. Just what you want at the end of a meal, an argument. Plenty of other restaurants in Darwin.

Unfortunately this was a disappointing experience. Friendly staff however it was clear they were quite understaffed. Meals were small and underwhelming, they overall cost was excessive for what had been served. Great location but that’s where it ends.

While we anticipated the perfect dining experience, we left disappointed. Drinks were very good and the food was quite tasty too - had a yummy oyster starter and shared the snapper which was very well cooked. Unfortunately, the table service was abysmal. There seemed to be little or very poor communication with the kitchen. Three main meals came out about 15min apart. Could not believe it. And one ended up on the floor. Not sure how difficult it is to hire staff but clear that the restaurant takes little care in ensuring quality front of house or waiters. Again the food was tasty albeit pricey but the experience was a downer.

we really enjoyed our experience here. we were greeted by friendly staff who answered all our questions about the menu, we were recommended to try the whole fish and were not disappointed, beautiful presented food and the flavours really worked, simple food but well done. our waitress even recommended wines to accompany the dish. the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and decor too. overall a great dinner

Darwin Waterfront has plenty of places to eat. After a very disappointing meal at The Oyster Bar the night before we tried Snapper Rocks. Well what a contrast - this place is outstanding!! Super friendly staff all of whom were very attentive. We shared the reef fish croquettes which by themselves would have been great but they were accompanied by the most flavoursome slaw. Sensational. We then had the charcoal peri peri chicken which was brilliant. Generous portions of superbly cooked chicken on a bed of a combination of quinoa and corn purée. A true delight to eat. We are so glad we went here.

We had a delicious dinner here, the location is brilliant and the staff are friendly. We had the calamari as a starter was great we also had the fish croquettes which was just way too much dough, we dug the fish out and just ate that. For Mains we had the peri peri chicken which was great and also a spicy fried chicken burger which was not bad. Would definitely go back

We have been regulars of snapper rocks for almost a year now! We have tried some of the higher end restraunts for steak and noting compares to snapper rock's. The presentation of the steak with the punken puree is absolutely amazing The steak has always been cooked perfectly. All the staff are always very helpful and make sure you have everything you need. The wine list is also amazing You won't be disappointed with the steak the best in Darwin along with beautiful tasty broccoli and some punken on the side We can't wait to return for our next occasion night out Thank you to everyone

Went to dinner with family of adults. 2 had the chicken peri peri, 1 had 2 small plates and I had gnocchi. The chicken peri peri was dry. The small plate meal came out 20 minutes between plates. The cauliflower popcorn bites where oily and the fish wings where over cooked. And my gnocchi was stodgy and bland. Wouldn’t recommend or go back.

Ate here twice whilst we took the kids to the wave pool, nice spot a new food was very good. Highly recommend the salt and pepper crocodile either alone or in the bao. Darwin does have some really good little restaurants but this was the only one we went back to The salmon poke bowl and kids dishes were also very good, some nice light dishes that suit the climate. Good range of drinks, the batter hazy IPA worked very well in the Darwin heat Nice staff who were attentive and didn’t make mistakes.

Dined there at lunchtime prior to Christmas. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was not too noisy, some places you cannot hear yourself talk. I ordered the oysters with the cheese and bacon topping, really delicious, followed by the barra which was cooked nicely. My fellow companions enjoyed their meals. Throughout our meal, the wait staff were very attentive. I can certainly recommend this restaurant for an enjoyable meal.

We ate here whilst on holiday with some friends. It was a mixed experience mostly because the staff were not great. Right from the start, the staff didn’t inspire us with confidence, they weren’t sure of drinks and ordering was much harder than it needed to be. We asked for a dessert menu, which never arrived, we were then told about 10 minutes later that they were closing. It was only 8.30! The food was delicious, and pretty consistent across all of the different dishes. Which was a big plus.
