I found this place through my Roughguides book. I had never tried a sushi conveyer belt but I love sushi and this was a chance to try something new. There were some people in the restaurant but they were eating from the regular menu so we had the conveyer belt for ourselves and could choose whatever we want. The sushi... More

Not just a sushi place but a great Japanese restaurant. Great variety all produced under your nose. More choices than any other sushi place in Cairns. Friendly spot with a homely feel.

Under new management. Located on Shields Street it's not one of the well known Sushi places and there's always a seat. The new management are keen with exceptional service for eat in or takeaway. Great bowls, ramen and sushi I love ducking in here for a quiet lunch or grabbing takeway. Lunch is 11:30a-2:00p Dinner 5:30p-9:00p

My friend and I arrived in Cairns from Sydney and were absolutely starving. Although Sushi Zipang was about to close for the afternoon they let us in and delivered excellent service without rushing us in any way. The food was very fresh and delicious. I definitely recommend this place.

Wonderful friendly courteous service! Their Sashimi is the best we have had in the Cairns area. Tempura prawns are excellent too as well as the "Bowl" dishes.

Myself and 2 friends went to Sushi Zipang. I got the Spicy Ramen, and two of my friends got Karage Chicken and Noodles. The ramen that I got was okay, it wasn't horrible food but I've had better Ramen in local shops, the actual decor of the restaurant was quite bland, the sushi train looked incredibly sad (with only about... Years ago this was our favourite sushi restaurant in Cairns but when we went back it was so dissapointing. The food was not as good as it used to be and the train is pretty empty of plates when it was always very full. Now you order choosing from the menu. The prices have become expensive for what it is... More

Good friendly service.convenient location in city. Reliable for fresh sushi and sashimi. Usually go here when want to eat sushi. Rather than taking plates off the train we order what we want and it is made in front of us. Yes the decor is very tired and let's down the total score but we tend to now overlook this .
