Excellent experience with Fico's "let us cook for you" Sunday lunch. Our welcome was warm, chairs were comfy. i was concerned because at first glance, there was nothing on the 10-course small plate set menu that I would have ordered. I was in for a...lovely surprise: each course was delicious, thoughtfully created, and perfectly executed. A complete success. We will be back.More

They say you get what you pay for but I think Fico owe a little more for their pricing. The presentation was generally classy but little things kept letting them down- Like the absence of promised horseradish flavour with the scallop. Like the waiting staff...gabbling the ingredients in each dish so automatically you could barely grasp what was put in front of you. Like the gelato served in a warm bowl. And they saltiness of that risotto. They are all little details but for the price tag it’s not just the flavour on one plate or the speccy presentation that cuts it.More

The staff were unfriendly and some slightly rude. We ordered a bottle of wine but we were given the wrong bottle. The waitress commented that it was lucky for us the wrong bottle wasn’t a lot more expensive! We were then told that we should...share dishes on the menu. We ordered to share and found the servings to be very small and not sharing size! The food was beautifully presented and tasty but definitely overpriced. Overall, very disappointing eveningMore

When you are travelling on your own it is always difficult to decide where to dine. I had a great experience with service and food and wine at Fico. Would definitely go back.

It looks like the restaurant presents itself as fine dining place but from the first look we get the feeling it is not. The overall atmosphere is more like cafe. I do not have a problem with open kitchen but the ventilation system is very...bad there. Food was good but not great. The service not very attentive at best times, the beginning; and overly neglecting towards the end of our meal. But the greed for charging you $125.00 for $36.00 bottle of wine left the final bad taste . You can find many better restaurants for $285.00 dinner.More

Everything about Fico is wonderful. The professional yet friendly staff. the beautiful, elegant restaurant (without feeling stuffy or snobby) and of course the magnificent food by Freddie and Oskar. We had an amazing meal and experience at Fico and look forward to returning when we...are next in Hobart. PS - The artwork displayed in the restaurant is also fabulous, by Tasmanian artist Tom Samek.More

The restaurant only appears to offer their "Let us Cook for You" menu for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday lunch. There is an a la carte offering on Sunday night. The website when booking advises that the "Let us Cook for you"...menu is eight courses for $120 per person. They appear to include the four tasters at the start as one course and don't include the couple of amuse bouche at all. Our Sunday lunch started with two amuse bouche, followed by our four tasters, home made soughdough bread, grissini and butter, four more substantial dishes plus two desserts. The dishes were a good mix of flavours and textures that were beautifully presented and certainly tested our senses. Gluten free options were available. As in all meals some dishes appealed more than others but there were no misses from our perspective. My favourites were the Kingfish, soy and wasabi taster and all of the mains including the tuna with ginger sauce, the sea urchin risotto, the tortelli with onion jus and the duck with crab apple and radicchio. Wine list was quite expansive and included a good number of local Tasmanian as well as European wines. Service was very friendly and relaxed with the pacing of the dishes fitting in with the advertised "long Sunday lunch" descriptor. Everything about this restaurant appealed from the fit out and ambience to the food, the service and the value. They can cook for me anytime and I will return when next in Hobart.More

Visited on a wet Sunday night - the staff were very attentive (not too attentive) and the food was first rate from their a la carte menu. The pizza fritta was sublime, the ragu was beyond moreish and the pistachio souffle was just perfect. I...would definitely come back as everything was done just right and the food was so flavourful, even the little anchovy brioche starter!More
