This place is a problem. I went in for a simple breakfast. I had toast and mum had fruit bread. Simply the best ever. Mum's fruit toast has whole apricots, dates.... to die for. And then I couldn't leave without a cherry and rasberry danish....More

Always busy this cafe is a great spot for foodies. There's plenty to choose from in the pastry counter with plenty of other offerings too. The coffee is pretty good as well. Time yourself well to get a seat.

For breakfast, 8.00am, we had a very simple (1) avocado & tomato on toast & (2) apricot granola (shared). Whilst simple it was delicious. The ambience is positive and upbeat, the display is luscious and quality+, & it is sooo clean. The service is good,...More

Do yourself a favor and have breakfast or just a coffee (which is the best) but you won't be able to resist anything in the display cabinets... pastry, breads etc...

I don't normally have just a pastry for breakfast, but thought this would be the place to have one and I wasn't disappointed. The brioche bun was great and my sisters danish also great and not too sweet. Add good coffee and service and it...More

Recently stopped by Daci and Daci for a brunch date with an old friend. Beautiful warm atmosphere, I had a salmon tart and a delicious hot chocolate. Was very tempted by all the deserts! Will definitely be back.

In 1900 my ancestors had a bakery and coffee shop (Federal Coffee Palace) at 11 Murray Street, Hobart. A photo can be found on Flickr. The photo has horse and cart, the owner Thomas Wood and his family and staff outside. Do you have any history about the building. I was very pleased to see that the building is still a bakery. I have been told that there is a plaque or something on the building. I could not see anything today.

Hi Judy, Thank you so much for dropping the photograph in that day. It was wonderful to hear about your ancestors as we had wondered so much about the olden days of the Federal Coffee Palace. Thanks for sharing the story... More
