Muirs has all the bases covered. It serves fish and chips, it sells fresh fish and seafood, it sells ice-creams and coffee, it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, it has outdoor seating where you can purchase a drink, it has a casual area and an upstairs up market area, has something for everyone. The venue is large and clean, well... More

Went here recently as I have done over many years and it has only gotten better. a huge array of fresh and take away fish dishes and a very popular, waterfront restaurant with downstairs being for a leisurely meal and take away and upstairs being a fine dining experience. The Trevalla Marinade which my wife and I opted for was... More

My wife and I wanted to experience the great Oysters and Scallops that Tasmania is known for and we experienced elsewhere. Being our last day we wanted to have a nice lunch. Boy were we dissatisfied. The Oysters kilpatrick were bland and small and bacon under cooked. The scallops were not much better. They were cooked but bland! Soggy and... More

Always popular, and in the best location, the queues give you ample time to decide on which three out of 36 flavours of Valhalla ice cream to have. My favourite combination so far is mango, watermelon and liquorice. I like to sit by the dock and enjoy the view, and I always point out the Giant Tasmanian crab (deceased and... More

Jill & George Mure opened Tasmania's first licensed seafood restaurant, Mures Fish House, in 1973 in Hobart. When they struggled to source quality, fresh, local seafood, George went fishing.

More than 40 years on, now owned by Will & Jude Mure, Mures remains a favourite of locals and visitors alike, located in Hobart's working fishing port at Victoria Dock. Mures' philosophy of fresh Australian seafood, sourced from sustainably managed fisheries still rings true from the ocean to the plate.

At Lower Deck you can enjoy a wide variety of seafood from the licensed Bistro, including Mures' own line caught blue eye trevalla, as you take in the sights and sounds of the waterfront. Start the day off right with breakfast by the docks, served daily from 7am. Check out the vast array of Australian seafood at the Fishmongers including rock lobster, salmon, scallops and mussels, where you can order freshly shucked Tasmanian oysters from the Oyster Bar. Mures' own range of gourmet seafood products, Tasmanian wines, cider and recipe books are also available. Finish off with a local roasted coffee or choose from 32 flavours of ice cream at the Cafe.
