Waited about 20 minutes for two 'large' ( thimble full ) coffees. I'd hate to see the small. Coffee was adequate....just. You expect much better in Melbourne. Cancelled breakfast ...

Leaving from the Windsor Hotel to walk around Melbourne in the late afternoon, and to look for a nice quiet place to dine on our last night before heading home, we came across this terrific little Italian surprise. The menu was a great range of classic Italian cuisines. As we only want light meals for dinner, we decided on the... More

Really impressed with the variety and quality of the food options here. The entrees were exceptional, some of the best crunchy golden arancini, classic wrapped figs with prosciutto, gorgonzola and a balsamic reduction and a gnocchi alla romana which was everyone's favourite. Mains were also well above standard. A black & white tagliatelle with scallops and prawns smelt amazing and... More

Called in here recently for some pre dinner drinks and snacks. Great service and the polenta chips were lovely. Loved the fit out here - uber cool. Good selection of wine and prices average for the locale. I would love to go back for dinner - the menu is enticing.

I enjoyed two delicious museli breakfasts at this cafe as it was close to our hotel. The atmosphere is great and the staff are friendly and helpful, though service was a bit slow one day. There is a good choice of breakfast items. I would definitely recommend visiting this cafe.

Cute narrow restaurant at the top end of Bourke Street. Friendly and helpful staff. Small interesting menu plus daily blackboard specials. The house made pasta dishes were well executed and tasted excellent. Unfortunately the salmon 'special' was over cooked.

I keep returning to this spot when in Melbourne. It is cosy, it is friendly and the food on offer is sufficient to meet the business diet for both breakfast and lunch. Well located. No fuss .Easy going. Loved the eggs on toast; either scrambled or Benedict. a discreet location for the off beat business chat.

We decided to stop here for lunch after some shopping in the city on a very hot and windy Melbourne day. We sat inside but the heat was almost stifling until a breeze came through the front door. While we were seated pretty efficiently, we weren't attended to for a while due to the waitress getting stuck putting through orders... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
