I am starting to get a bit reluctant to post any food reviews on Tripe Advisor as it is obvious to me that we all see very different - depending on where we start from! I have spent most of my summer holidays in France as a kid from 8-17 and got to know the French kitchen quite well. This... More

My wife and I had dinner here on the weekend, the food was amazing , the service was great. The staff are actually French which is a nice touch. I feel the price of the food was well worth the flavours if we visit Melbourne again we will be back.

Finding a good restaurant in Melbourne for a night out is getting more and more difficult. The French Brasserie was not our first choice but all the others on our list either did not take reservations or had two sittings. Who wants to line up in the hope that you might get a table or go at an inconvenient time... More

Tried the degustation menu. Very nice staff. The food was not very surprising. The lamb got too much herb. Good dessert. 3.5/5

We kind of made a blind booking based on tripadvisor.....and wow did we hit bullseye, this place is absolutely fabulous, it's magnifique. Everything is French, the staff, the menu, the food, you name it. Great onion soup as a starter and filet de boeuf as main course. Desert we all had the Madelaines, wow wow wow. In all right a... We enjoyed both a lunch and a dinner here whilst in Melbourne. The staff were friendly, very helpful and happy to allow us to linger after the meal. Their French accents added to the vibe. Traditional French brasserie with generous bread supply. The food was certainly enjoyable.

It was great food, great wine, great service and we loved every minute of it! Our waiter, Ramon, and the others were so attentive and explained where the wines came from, in France & how they complimented the meals. They were fun and although very busy with a full restaurant they gave us plenty of time. We'll certainly go back... More

I was looking forward to trying The French Brasserie and thought the express lunch as part of the Melbourne Food & Wine festival would be a good showcase. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. My mother enjoyed her pork terrine entree, I had the fish soup which was very strong in flavour but quite nice. The chicken main was dry... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
