I love Degraves street, it's a real buzz. This cafe is busy but fun. We had a great breakfast and they serve really good coffee. Staff excellent.

We stopped here for a late lunch after walking the city streets sightseeing. We chose to sit in the laneway rather than inside the cafe as we were enjoying the atmosphere. It was a very hot day and a jug of water was immediately we sat down. We both had salt and pepper squid with chips and salad. The squid... More

We love visiting Cafe Andiamo for breakfast. It has an extensive menu and you can eat either inside or in the lane way which is fabulous for people watching. The food is delicious with so much on offer. You won't be disappointed. Love the coffee and atmosphere.

Busy evening dining, eventually order taken by great staff, one pizza, one pasta wine and water. All of us very satisfied with tasty offerings. Take into account the busy nigbt and the crowd, we'd be back for more.

We found this cafe in one of the back lanes. You can have a table along the lane or inside the small cafe. Tables are very close. The risotto and pizza were very well prepared with lots of flavour. The pizza was a nice thin crust with generous toppings. Reasonable prices and good food. The toilets are around the back... More

The cafe is wonderful, extremely clean, great waitress named Rachel and very good manager in Anthony. We live in Florida, USA and each time we come to Melbourne we come here.

Had a super solid classico breakfast here with a group of colleagues. Thick buttered toast, perfect runny poached eggs, tasty crispy bacon, delightful mushrooms and a well grilled tomato. It's a bit rare that everything is all so good at the same time, and to top it off a piping hot coffee that hit the mark. Well done, first visit... More

For breakfast the food was dry and not very imaginative. We had five different meals and all consistently poor. Coffee was mostly foam. Melbourne has some of the best breakfast places in this area and this one is not even close to average. Skip.

There are stacks of good places for food and coffee in Melbourne. This isn't one of them. Less than average salads, lukewarm coffee, dirty glasses and table, indifferent staff. Pizza was ok. Forget it.

Degraves st is always a lovely place to be in the morning and this place is a good spot to watch the crowds wandering by and to enjoy a great coffee. Also indulged in the crepes which were light and served with fresh strawberries and ice cream. Delicious.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
