Took my international visitor here as she is histamine intolerant. She did manage to find a cauliflower salad which was suitable for her diet. I had the egg sandwich and the bread was already drying up as it was pre-prepared. I think the sandwich from 7-Eleven is fresher! Egg sandwich: 2/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Overall: 3.3/5

This place has been here for ages and it's great to have an organic coffee in the city. They have nice tasty healthy food and the coffee was pretty good too... after a 10 minute wait at a grubby table outside (some people are so filthy in their eating habits!. They just need more staff to keep up with demand... More

Good spot for a quick vegan cake and coffee - their vegan choc cake is great as is their citrus and poppy seed cake, try them! Found the carrot cake heavy and stodgy. Golden lattes also really good. Seating inside is a bit cramped (very cramped) but outside table space not too bad. Great location in Degraves lane in the... More

A nice place to pick up vegan snacks and specialised lunches and meals with special dietary requirements. Service is a bit toffee nosed, but the food is okay. Nowhere to sit and mingle though.

I really loved the set up of this store. The food is displayed beautifully and there is a huge range of vegan options. The service was nice even though the store was really busy. The food was good but the coffee was strange. There were lumps of something through the coffee and because I got a cappucino it may have... More

Located on busy degraves street bustling with people. TOFWD I'd a small cafe which has some outdoor seating and minimal indoor seating. Behind the class cabinet, there's an array of vegan and vegetarian pies/pastries/salads which you can request to eat in, or decide to takeaway. Yes, they do bung the pies in the microwave to heat it up and yes,... More

Thought this little place would be more deli like than cold premade foods. Nothing is ordered to receive fresh, which makes the pies and rolls eithere a bit tough to gnaw on or soggy and limp after reheating. Didn't see much in the way of wines, and there were a few portable snack options, like nuts, but they were extremely... More

It wouldn't be a trip to Australia without eating a pie or two, but if you're a vegan your options are limited! TOFWD had a couple of tasty vegan options with a reasonable side salad and surprisingly tasty relish. Quite expensive, but that's pretty much what I'd expect for an artisanal organic vegan deli.

I've eaten in Degraves Street many time. It's a haven for foodies. But this trip we tried the vegie burgers from TOFWD and thought they were fabulous. Fresh ingredients, sensationally good flavours. We will definitely be frequenting this little cafe from now on whenever we're in Melbourne.

This place is the exception to the overpriced fare of Degraves street. Nice and heathy options, including vegan and gluten free.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
