Server was extremely rude and did not speak and then wiped the dirty table onto our laps. This person should not deal with the public as obviously has not etiquette. Also told quite abruptly that they do not do poached eggs. Save your time and effort and go some place you feel welcomed. I think she forgets that customers pay... More

I have come here two years running, during my stay to watch the tennis at the Australian Open. The restaurant is situated amongst many types of eateries, in a busy Hardware Lane that crosses Little Burke street, which was convenient for me as I stayed in China town. You will be greeted initially in the French language. The service is... More

Great little stall in the middle of the city. Banana and Nutella crepes were very nice and the service was quick. Not as good as something you will find in Paris, France but still yum!

Small place, doesn't look much but for a tasty crepe either savoury or sweet for cheap filling dinner then it's great. Not big enough for large groups. Air con. Had the lamb savoury crepe - I forget the proper name for a savoury crepe.... But it was lovely, the staff were lovely, recommended

We went to the stall on Swanston Street. After ordering and paying, we waited patiently for our crepe despite not having been pre-warned of a long wait. 30 minutes later, crepes were being handed out to people who arrived after us. I approached the cashier who took our order: who then proceeded to check her handwritten dockets and told me... More

So we waited for 30 minutes (would've appreciated the notice when we ordered that it was gonna take so long) and soon realised that customers after us were getting their crepes already, so we asked the lady that we ordered with to check on our order. For some reason she missed our order as she double checks her list of... More

The galettes are delicious. Buckwheat ( so suitable for those who cannot eat wheat) pancakes with a mix of terrific ingredients ( I had the "La Sacrebleue") makes for an interesting and unusual lunch. The staff are friendly and efficient and the "buzz" of the crepe tie make the whole experience one to treasure.

I visited the Hardware Ln cafe, and enjoyed the food and charm of the place. A slice of France, yummy crepes, and friendly service

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
