I've never visited Virhinia Plains but had heard good things about it. Mercy is great but suffers from some acoustic issues. Drinks, food and service were all great. Relaxed atmosphere.

Aka "Mercy". What a shame you've decided to change your look and ambience. At least your food is still good and tasty. I could not believe the noise level when we went there for dinner this week. And why did you cram all diners into...More

To be honest, we did pretty well at this place considering we'd picked up a 50% special off the Dimmi website. We had an entrée each and a main with some drinks and the price was fine for the food we had. However, had we...More

We were invited to a terrific evening of Portuguese wine tasting matched with delicious courses. Each course came with two glasses of wine to compare - all of them were variations from good to great. Loved the plate decorations of edible art (dried squid ink,...More

The food is tasty. The bread was warm and crusty - delicious! I had the John Dory and the pear tart while my husband had the seafood risotto and the salted caramel banana sundae. The banana sundae is highly recommended. The venue is very noisy...More

Two friends and I went for dinner on a Friday night. The atmosphere of the place was great. Moderate-low lighting atmosphere and just a general buzz about the place was pretty cool. Staff were really good and social when taking orders, making (really good) recommendations...More

Our last meal in Melbourne was at Virginia Plain. It was another delicious experience in Melbourne. It also has an open kitchen and dining area which makes it cozy. Although we showed up near closing time but they managed to get us in. The shellfish...More

New to Melbourne (well a few months ago) this is an upstairs open plan buzzy spot. A little noisy once it gets going, staff mainly good at getting drinks and food orders to &* from the table. Good! wine list by glass, 250ml as well...More

Well thought-out menu, unusual food and a very comprehensive wine list. Although it must be said that the wine is a little too expensive. Surely there are cheaper wines available with reasonable quality. The cocktails are definitely worth sitting up at the bar for. Staff...More

After googling restaurants close to our hotel, we thought this one looked interesting. It is large and on a Friday evening, there were only about 15-20 people in there (I read it seats over 100). We had a lovely table and enjoyed our night -...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways

corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
