Yes you can have a drink in east and West Berlin but it's so small that it's basically the same thing. Had fun but nothing special

Loooove the concept of east vs west and having been to Berlin, really appreciated the distinction made. Sensational cocktail, spirit, beer and a select but quality wine list! Loved the fries!! Can't wait to return with friends!!

After dinner we went up to the Berlin Bar - our first drink was in East Berlin and then we moved to West Berlin for the next drinks. Funky décor and awesome atmosphere.

Looking for an usual late night venue to drink after a meal, a colleague's friend recommended the Berlin Bar. And unusual it was. From the unassuming doorway on an "alley" where you must climb a stair case past a "comedy club" to nearly the third floor to be confronted by a "locked" unassuming door with a door bell. After ringing... More

Great concept with east and West Berlin taking on their own feel. You choose which side you'd like to be on, decadent west or grungy east. Nice snack but not really enough for a full meal. Have been here a few times. Great cocktail menu and nice selection of beers

A really great concept is the Berlin Bar, located just off Chinatown. Heading up to the third level and being greeted by a big steel door to gain entry really sets the vibe for the rest of the night. We found all staff members to be fantastic and friendly, and on this particular night they even had a house magician... More

Berlin bar is split into 2 sections, the rich and wealthy West Berlin or the darker dingy East Berlin. The cocktails are great (altough some a bit odd) and the atmosphere is worth visiting!

Having had a nice meal out for workmate's last day, we felt like a quintessential Melbourne cocktail experience. Berlin delivered on that score, with refreshing drinks served promptly with a smile from our friendly hostess. However the buzz was thoroughly killed during our bid to order a third round when a seemingly superior ranked official motioned to us above the... More

The building outside looks well dodgy... but inside is cleverly done (pushing the button and waiting to be admitted was a bit weird but added to the ambience). The cocktails are fabulous... the Angela Merkel is divine, as is the Luftwaffe Sour!

We stayed here for many more rounds they we had planned. Terrific setting and decor with a split bar. Extensive menu of drinks and snacks. The novel cocktail menu has a road map of flavours which leads you choice selections. Friendly host and barman was charming! Thanks for the vote if you found this helpful.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
