Booked an early Express Lunch. Staff always well trained and pleasant. Food shows competence in technique and just the right amount of experimentation. The three courses consisted of lightly marinated kingfish on a creamy base ,followed by seafood dumplings in a sweet sour broth with seaweed and mushrooms. A slowly rendered and crisp pork belly was the best version we... More

Decor was inviting. Tables relatively close. Friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff. We ordered degustation menu-loved the meal. Innovative food, portion size about right. Did not choose matching wines.Enjoyed a pinot gris from Alsace.Highly recommend the pork belly and desert tasting plate.

Excellent menu, a la carte or degustation. Respect for vegetarians. Inventive and progressive without being showy. Flavours are king. Wine matching is superb. Mid-size but still intimate room with loads of space between tables for intimacy and quiet; chairs and banquettes accommodate a range of backs for a predominantly grown-up and professional clientele. Lighting is subdued. Cozy is the wrong... More

Ezard had a 6-course degustation dinner menu, with wine flights, to celebrate Valentine's Day. My wife and I were there, along with another couple who are good friends of ours. We had the "regular" menu; our female friend went for vegetarian. The evening was extraordinary. Every dish was remarkable, and varied from fish (salmon, oysters) to meat (pork) and vegetarian... Great menu and cool looking room. Service was a little lack lustre only from an attitude perspective, a little to cool for school. Great flavours in the food and the attention to detail on each plate was excellent. Had Morton bay bugs here for the first time, tasty! I would recommend this place for sure.

My partner and I visited on Australia Day and had the wine-matched degustation. I had originally planned to do the vegetarian degustation but opted to mix and match at the last minute; I had the seafood courses, with the exception of the oyster shooter (replaced with the tofu shooter) but opted for the vegetarian options for the rest. We arrived... More

We had a reservation at Ezard on 11th Jan 2017. The welcome is warm, the ambience is pleasant and inviting. The staff are professional, attentive, and helpful. He ate the Quail entree and I had the scallop dumplings..both delicate and delicious. For mains he had the duck and I had the chicken, we had the sides: potatoes, and green beans,... More

Went here recently for lunch as we hadn't been for ages - I went with two friends. We just had a main each and a couple of sides - mains were duck, chicken and salmon and I can honestly say we all said our dishes were delicious! The sides (crunch potatoes and Asian greens) were also very nice. The service... More

Read all the reviews saying this restaurant is really good. We agree with all those. The degustation menu with oyster shooter and the gnocchi. Fabulous. The wine list. Really good. The sommelier assistance is spot on. The service during the meal was attentive and not intrusive. You feel like you r in good hands. Recommendation? Book a table at ezard.... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
