The Lemongrass Thai Restaurant is beautifully decorated and you feel like you are in a Thai restaurant when you walk in. There is an extensive food menu to choose from, and also a nice wine menu. I tried the Money Bags and the Thai Fish cakes. The fish cakes were beautiful and served with a tasty dipping sauce, the money... More

We were so impressed with our meal we came back two nights in a row! We ordered one meal each and shared, generous portions. You order your rice separately. What struck us was the freshness of ingredients, and the taste! We had a lovely NZ wine called Tohu which was divine. My favourite meal was the fish in a yoghurt... More

We've eaten here on several occasions. The food is always good and so is the atmosphere. The wait staff are attentive and the prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks. While it doesn't bother me, the only thing that might be difficult for some people, is that the toilets are upstairs via quite a few steps. Would however... More

We thought we'd have some other than Italian in Lygon street but that was a mistake. The chicken was battered and deep fried in our stir fry! Omg that was disgusting and no surprise that we weren't asked how the meal was. The vege pad thai was salty rice with a few bok choy stems. I would never eat here... More

We visited over the Christmas period and were not disappointed with the service being it was during the holiday period. The decor is very appropriate for a Thai restaurant and the quality of the food, service and friendliness of the staff are excellent. I would suspect that during the busier weekend period you would need to book a table. They... More

Average Thai food which is unfortunate as the atmosphere and staff were lovely. On the pricey side for chewy beef and overcooked shanks in the chefs curry special.

Absolutely delicious, quality food and quality service definitely one of the best places we ate! We only stopped to get a small takeaway meal, but the atmosphere was so nice we decided to stay. We got a curry to share and it was plenty for two of us. A big thank you to Lemongrass and their staff!! (Just remember the... More

I tasted Satay of beef and lamb and then a lamb's curry. Satay brochettes were well cooked and served with a fat sauce of peanuts. Probably acidity and spicy were missing. Lamb curry was a big plate with three pieces of lambs bones. Fortunatly I had my knife to cut the meat, uneasy to eat. The sauce had a common... More

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
