We decided to take the day off and treat ourselves to somewhere special. We chose Coda because their menu did not seem pretentious and their descriptions appealed. From the moment we stepped inside the staff were welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. A balance that...More

My friend told me it takes weeks to get a reservation, and I can see why. The food and selections were so interesting and tasty. It's one of those places that you just have to be in the know since the decor would not draw...More

I organised a lunch with colleagues after having heard so many people rave about this place. It was a complete disappointment. Having lived in Asia for many years I might have different standards, but in Coda's so-called "Vietnamese" cuisine everything, every single dish just tastes...More

The food, the service, the decor were all outstanding. Hidden down a flight of stairs Coda revealed itself to be an ultra modern restaurant that also managed to exude a casual feel. The staff were fantastic, explaining the menu, recommending dishes, topping up drinks. The...More

From the moment you walk into this funky restaurant, everything is exceptional. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and even took time out to write down a list of their recommendations for visiting Melbourne. We were given thoughtful recommendations on wine and what food...More

Was looking forward to eating here after visiting their sister restaurant Tonka. Standard was excellent and the service/dining staff were all friendly and efficient. Everything we ate was well cooked and tasty but not particularly memorable. There are many places doing modern Asian fusion very...More

Upon being seated by our charming waiter he informed us that most/all of the dishes are designed to be shared amongst the table. The menu was diverse as expected by a venue of this calibre, however the menu layout was quite challenging. The waiter immediately...More

Very friendly staff. I was travelling alone and I had to stay in the counter but it was really comfortable. Scalops were fantastic and the rest of the meal was very nice too. Good choice of Australian wines.

I'm a big fan of Indian food so when I accidentally discovered Coda my tastebuds were in heaven. It was a busy night but we managed to get a table in the restaurant, however if we had to sit in the bar it would of...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

Trendy. It's a smart place but casual. Not dressy but trendy. Some of this will depend on your age. I went with my two sons 37 and 40. I wore a jacket with jeans but then I'm a little older. Not sure if this helps at all... More

I had no problem with the way the food looked, so a photo wouldn't help. It was very well presented. It was the way the flavours worked ... or more disappointingly, didn't. But then again, I am often disappointed by... More

Upon opening our doors in 2009, we were thrilled to receive the The Age Good Food Guide's 'HatAward' and have maintained it ever since. Complementing these achievements, we are very proud of Head Sommelier, Travis Howe, who not only won Sommelier of the Year but also picked up the 2013 Wine List of the Year. Nestled in one of Melbourne's iconic laneways (basement Oliver Lane, and Flinders Lane), Coda is located in the busiest and most dynamic culinary precinct the city has to offer. A stone's throw away from the Yarra River, Flinders Street station and Federation Square, the restaurant enjoys hosting a diverse group of diners from frequenting locals who live and work on its doorstep to diners from all over the globe. Upon entering the restaurant you will be greeted by a member of our friendly team headed by Mykal and Kate Bartholomew and Executive Chef Adam D'Sylva. The trio has assembled a dedicated team with highly sought-after experience from many international and Melbourne-based restaurants. Coda's relaxed environment provides a versatile setting for a range of engagements. Whatever your occasion - from a quick pre-football meal, to a long Sunday lunch, business dining or a cosy seat for an anniversary - we look forward to your visit. While bookings are highly recommended, patrons without a reservation can enjoy the full menu at the bar.
