We went here twice for breakfast because it was so enjoyable the first time. Firstly the coffee is amazing, so that is always a good start but the food was also good. The kitchen is open to the dinning area so we could see our...More

My visits to Journal have usually been in association with courses at CAE, but today I decided just to call in for breakfast. Cappuccino started the gastric juises flowing, soon to be followed by toast and jam plus muesli. A pot of chai tea finished...More

Always experienced a very nice lunch here, food great. A large space with industrial feel overlooking Flinders lane. Found that service wasn't great, although asked a soon as we sat down if we wanted to order, and weren't ready then. Got forgotten and had to...More

Great if you want poor service long waits and cold coffee. Not sure how you survive in Melbourne. Food options are very limited, go to Dr Graves st or maccas if you want a better experience.

A mid-day eatery bespeaking the commercial enterprise it once was, serves dinner ONLY on Friday nights! It has a limited menu and an adequate wine selection. Some of the tables seat eight, and are therefore "shared" with other patrons, and then there are "high" tables...More

Nice enough food and a quirky setting. It was averagely busy when we went in and we soon found a table. The menu isn't huge but what you'd expect from such a place. Only three stars thanks to the rude attitude of the Canadian waitress!

The seating and tables are very simple and basic. No plush leather or cushioned seats, just wooden seats and tables and some stools and bench. However you are not here for the decor bu for the food. The daily menu is always changing. I had...More

Great little space, food is pretty good and coffee was fabulous. Love the chairs and the high ceilings. Look hard as it's pretty easy to miss

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary

city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
