Came here for a birthday dinner, access was an issue with a pram. The staff were friendly and the meals generous. The bathrooms were old and dirty and need to be updated. No disabled toilet and No baby change facilities. The music was good but...More

A quaint bierhaus. The schnitzel was what you would expect from a Bavarian Bierhaus. The schnitzel was moist with a delicious optional mushroom sauce. Try the Hofbrau original. Very tasty.

We stumbled into this place and had a great evening. Three piece band playing, one with a squeeze box. It was entertaining and foottapping stuff. Quick service and well priced. Enjoyed the beer and food. Go there on purposes you will enjoy it.

Honestly the most authentic german food I've had in 3 years traveling Canada, New Zealand and Australia and one of the best schnitzel I've ever had!

We stumbled on this place in our wanderings around Chinatown in Melbourne and oddly found a genuine German beer hall with typical food. We did the schnitzel and bratwurst with plentiful radler beer and to the accompaniment of a lively band had a very pleasant...More

My wife and I had lunch here recently and were happy to find it was as we expected. We have traveled through Germany and enjoyed Bavarian cuisine very much. This place did not disappoint. Prompt service, great food and good beer. Will return.

Beer hall in China Town sounds a bit odd but it's certainly worth a visit. Great atmosphere, live music and some good food. Try the schnapps!

Dined solo on a Thursday night. Service was good. Food was good. The pretzel was very tasty and the Swiss Schnitzel was okay. Very generous servings of food overall. Alpine Orchid cocktail was better. Would go back just for the pretzel and the cocktail.

Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place
to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place
simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude

Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes
such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your
money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving

Since 1968, Melbourne’s notoriously hard-to-please restaurant-goers have elected the Hofbräuhaus the best place for Bavarian food, Bier, fun and fröhlich. We’re passionate about our traditions and proud of our pure Biers hand-picked from the finest breweries in Bavaria. When you join us for lunch or dinner you’ll appreciate why we set a very high standard in providing quality hand-made Bavarian foods to family recipes that are guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds and your appetite. Having occupied the same spot in Market Lane in the heart of Melbourne for over 50 years, but steeped in traditions from the heart of Bavaria the atmosphere is like nothing else.
