This is a very popular local restaurant with amazing food and the German beers to match The size and quality of what is simply a pub type meal is unequalled in the CBD and a real must. We didn’t book but were able to eat in the bar without any fuss. The staff knew their beers and the makeup of... More

I am German and couldn't wait to go to the Hofbrauhaus. German waitresses, German food, German beer and German music. It was awesome. Prost!

Close to our hotel I noticed this Hofbrauhaus beer and food establishment. Having been to the Munich beer festival I was anxious to visit this place. While not as good as the Munich one it was good nouther the less, good wheat premium beer was my favorite, during the happy hour 4-6pm m-f it cost $7 for 500ml. There is... More

Surely German beer is he best in the world, so where better to drink it than in the German pub? A couple of steins is sure to get any evening off to a good start. It's a bit pricey but there is a happy hour that helps, but hell this is good beer we are taking about not your average... More

Found this place tucked away from main street but close enough to CBD. Genuine German food and atmosphere, great service. Nice selection of schnapps available.

My friends and I went here to re-live our recent experiences at the Munich Hofbräuhaus. It didn't disappoint! Yes, it's never going to be the same, but as far as the Aussie version goes, we had a blast! The staff were great, the atmosphere too, but best of all, the food and beer was just as good as what we... More

Went for dinner.. great food, generous serves indeed and the atmosphere is fantastic. Music is fairly loud so our 3yr old wasn't impressed but that's ok. Staff were friendly and quick with drinks and food. Great night.

Very busy Thursday night, walked in with no booking and one table left. Yay. Very prompt and efficient waiter. He had a great sense of humour very welcoming. Ordered the platter for two with schnitzels and sausages, mushroom. Schnitzels just melted in your mouth, not that crazy about their sausages. Garlic bread is just totally awesome, not your usual run... More

This place superb! Positives: 1. It's a place where you can escape from the CBD whilst in the CBD. You can either sit and read or mingle with friends. It's a friendly, warm atmosphere. 2. Beer and Schnapps available. Great range at reasonable prices. 3. Staff were lovely and friendly. 4. The food. So bloody good. For what you pay,... More

Hi there michelle, thanks so much for taking the time to submit your feedback. The area you mention is the Bier Hall - it is a fantastic space for larger parties and the weekends are a great time to see the area being enjoyed by larger parties getting into the spirit with the band. You are correct, the upstairs is... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
