Great place to kick off a night out with food and copious amounts of alcohol. Great beer range and tastes that you don't generally get. Staff dress up and are very friendly, lots of interesting decor and the music with get you toe taping in no time.

This is a fun and festive place, German live music and crowds of people, good to experience authentic German food, servings are large and the food is reasonable. Service could be a bit better, however we were there when there was a large table to serve. The Kassler Rib is really nice.

Indeed the Hofbrauhaus has a few different sections - a downstairs restaurant (possibly with an upstairs section) at the southern end of the building, and a bar with an upstairs section at the northern end of the building. Our work function was hosted in the upstairs section above the bar, which is packed out with a whole lot of long... More

Had dinner & drinks here on a busy Sunday night. Definitely recommend booking a reservation in advance. Expensive food and drinks but worth it because of the quality and size! One of the ladies had the dessert and it looked so delicious! Will be back!

This place is loud German fun. Live music, friendly staff, reasonable service, all German food and beers. Bring your appetite as there is a ridiculous amount of food. We were there for the $50 3 course meal. You could eat until u are sick. Good night out for a reasonable price.

This place has great atmosphere and more importantly great beer- in fact I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4 had in not been for the miserable staff! Just plain looked liked the didn't want to be there, blank faces, plain rude at times! Very disappointing, but other wise a great spot- than goodness that good company made... More

Found in a little do nothing lane in the China Town district of the CBD, Hofbrauhaus was worth the search! This is a very well presented establishment with the friendly staff clad in traditional attire to complete an immersive Bavarian vibe. Hofbrauhaus comprises of two halves. One side is a cosy bar and the other is a large restaurant suitable... More

Good place for group meal with huge selection of beer. Knock yourself out! The sharing platter to share is great for groups. Sunday lunch is a bit quiet nice to have a relaxed lunch without all the rush although if you're after live music probably best to choose busier times eg dinner service?

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
