Why would you put ice in an orange juice, call it freshly squeezed, charge 5$ and have it taste considerably like orange C. Why would you charge 26$ for a chicken Parma, with a salad drenched in balsamic vinegar and chips which taste more like cardboard than potato. Why would you not take off 2 chai lattes from the bill... More

Delicious pizza with light crisp bases. Soup to warm a cool Melbourne day. Sometimes the service can be a bit sketchy and they should stop saying "enjoy" when they deliver the food. But overall this place is a gem. Busy, good food great location with heaters outside make it ok to sit on the street and watch the passing Lygon... More

Stopped for an evening meal after finding out the history of this restaurant, and delighted to see the founding owner still in attendance fussing around his guests and staff. It was busy, but we only had to wait a short while, and it was worth it! Wonderful food and drink. A must if you visit Lygon Street.

Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We were seated quickly, our order taken promptly and drinks delivered in a good time. However, the food took a long time. We were quite hungry, which didn't help. If in the area I'd go back to give them a second chance. May have been an off day.

4 of us were rudely seated and although not busy were forced to sit at a very small table instead of the 6 seater we first chose. Not told the specials of the day. The minestrone lacked flavour, although was a huge serving.the ravioli was served in a tepid broth. The saltimbucco veal was well cooked but lacklustre presentation. The... More

Really nice attentive staff, friendly, happy. Pizzas were delicious, lots of desserts to choose from. Reasonably priced. $55 per couple that included 3 pizzas, prosecco, wine, coffees and 2 desserts.

I went for a solo breakfast before a movie at Nova. Ordered and waited. Nothing arrived and a table of 2 whom ordered after me received their food. I pointed this out to the waitress who went to follow up. I was told the docket had got lost but mine was now a priority. When I watched 2 other tables... More

4 of us were looking for a light lunch before heading back to Perth, we walked down Lygon St and looked for one with lots of customers and decided to go into this one!......what an experience!! We were warmly greeted by Giancarlo who made us feel right at home. We each ordered minestrone which reminded us of our mother's cooking,... More

I've never had a bad meal at this restaurant. But equally, I've never had an exciting meal. When you order the broccoli pasta, that's what you get. Lots of broccoli and pasta. The serves and never skimpy and there's always enough of the all the specified ingredients to ensure that you have a tasty meal. It can also be fun... More

Three of us were so impressed, eggs Benedict were an absolute standout, fruit toast best ever, and pancakes were spot on. The coffee was what you would expect from any of the Lygon Street cafes. Highly Highly recommend for breakfast. Thanks

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
