I know that many people would question spending $230+ per person on a degustation but I can tell you all that this was well worth it. It's like going to a great show or concert. The food is sensational the view is breathtaking and the service is outstanding. We were lucky enough to visit this restaurant for a second time,... More

I went here for my birthday celebrations - treated by hubby dearest :) The experience was truly a class apart. The staff was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Both hubby and I are food geeks and our hostess was patient enough to tell us the history and story of every beautiful dish we ordered. If food is an art - these... More

Take the elevator to the 55th floor and step into a great atmosphere and views of Melbourne on dark. The food was elegant and fine with wines that backup the taste sensation. servings were a little light on but a great night. All of these put together and our function was a great success.

There for a business dinner and although it was just okay I certainly wouldn't come back to pay my own money for what we were served - the usual small serves that were made to look fancy but totally lacked taste and substance- the Wagyu beef was a little tasty but as tough as old boots. The only saving grace... More

Well, just an outstanding evening. We were confused when looking at booking by the non-specific pricing for a visit, until we attended & discovered it is dependant upon whether you have the 8, 9 or 10 course degustation menu. AMAZING presentation and flavours. Worth EVERY cent. Huge wine list. A definite MUST visit if in Melbourne & if you are... More

It comes with a hefty price tag but definitely worth the visit for that special occasion. Everything was above expectation from the spectacular 55th floor views to the delicacy and craftsmanship of each dish. The service and friendly staff were also fantastic.

Seriously, unless you have a LOT of money to spend or are pretentious I don't know that I would bother! It was an experience - the views from the 55th floor are spectacular but we all left feeling a little underwhelmed! The waiter who greeted us and asked if we had any dietary requirements completely ignored my reply of 'no... More

We got a cancellation booking at Vue de Monde and are so pleased we did. What an experience. We enjoyed a fantastic table with stunning views. Because we dined at 6.30 we got to see the sun go down and the city light up - magical. The staff here are extremely well selected. They are knowledgeable without being condescending. They... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
