Very affordable, around $10 a "don" (rice dish) of your choice, seafood, chicken, etc, and as well a very filling portion!! the seemingly "small" bowls are deceiving, but definitely a very filling meal well worth the money, very quick service as well!

This place has been around for a while. Initially it used to be on swanston st and was a tiny little place. Now it's a much bigger, and comfortable place. The food has always been consistent, tasty and value for money. Their curry dons are fantastic and very filling. Love the pickled ginger and chilli powder on top. Only drawback... More

The food is delicious with affordable price. The food portion is pretty good and tastes delicious. We have Don box and curry and it makes us fool until the evening.

Great curry at cheap price, long Q but the staffs were quick and food was served fast. Located at the alley but easy to spot it.

It offers very affordable choices compared to other Jap restaurants in Melbourne CBD. Very big portion for Jap Curry Bowl. Had a Sashimi Don and love it! Quality food, good location.

I used to have lunch at least 2 times a week at this pace. Love the sashi don. I came back to this place after a year, still loves it. The speed always amazes me. I missed the time when I could see the kitchen in action. It was an entertainment like a production line.

If you're in the centre and looking for good, cheap food, this is probably one of the best places to go to. However avoid going there during peak hours, otherwise you need to queue for ordering and a seat.

I was pleasantly surprised by this eatery. It's always so packed I have been reticent to try it. But it was terrific. Tofu Don for 6.50!! It was excellent And served lightening fast. Great for a quick lunch between lectures.

I ordered the beef Udon noodles. The dish its self was quite yummy, however the restaurant area is very dirty and un-kept. The floor was filthy, with grease marks all over the walls, birds flying around inside leaving a mess on the tables. The environment itself is very grungy. I personally wouldn't go back, I found it quite unpleasant regardless... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
