An institution; yes; it serves only pastas with origins in various Italian provinces. Well how interesting- great to eat history too. And in Italian tradition just a fork offered. I looked around for the menu- was abrupty told in Italian accent that the offer of...More

It is like step back in time to visit Pellegrinis. Really simple Italian food with heaps of flavour. Always fresh and quick. It is not fine dining so dont expect it. Just fabulous cheap quick Italian in a diner setup.

"Meet you at Pelligrinis" is a phrase that has been spoken for generations. It takes me back to my uni days. Meeting Dad for lunch. I love the fact that its clientele is eclectic with uni students sitting next to business men in their silk...More

Looked from the outside and we saw something that looks like an authentic, old family-owned restaurant. The place was fully packed for lunch so we thought - those people must know a thing or two. Went in, it felt like we're in the middle of...More

Our first visit to this Melbourne institution. Love that it hasn't changed with the times and has actually become hip again. We had coffee, strudel and pie. My son said it was the best coffee he's ever had as it was nice and strong. Strudel...More

Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place

Most seating is at the bars, I am not sure they take bookings.

I do not believe bookings are available. Its a very fluid atmosphere. You walk in, are seated on the benches and stools. Just ask the staff what specials or what is good to eat that day and they will recommend.
